Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council held in Court Room
No.1 at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 29th, 1977.

THAT the letter dated July 20th, 1977 from the Town Solicitor
regarding Resolution #C-77-1061 (Jurisdiction of Committee of
Adjustment) be received for information and a copy sent to the
Committee of Adjustment.

THAT the application by the Recreation Department to hold a
Soap Box Derby on Simpson Avenue Hill on August 11th, 1977
be concurred with and Police notified.

THAT the Village of Newcastle Arena Fund Raising Committee be
given permission to hold a Barbecue and Beer Garden on the grounds
of the Newcastle Community Hall on August 13th, 1977 and the
Liquor Control Board be so advised.

THAT authority be given to Councillor Woodyard and the To~~ Clerk
to interview and hire personnel to sell dog licences at $2.00
per licence plus car allowance of 22 cents per mile.

THAT the Confidential Report of the Director of Public Works
be received for information.

THAT the foregoing Resolution be amended to provide that the
Report be referred to the Public Works Committee for further
study so that they may present complete report to Council.

Resolution UC-77-1103
Moved by Con. Gray, seconded by Con. Woodyard.
THAT the following motion of the Newcastle Village and District
Arena Building Committee be concurred with:-
"THAT the Newcastle Village and District Arena Building Committee
recommend to the Newcastle To~~ Council that they accept the
Tender of Mirco Contracting from Trenton, Ontario, to construct
the new Arena in the Village of Newcastle on the recommendation
of Totten, Sims & Hubicki, Consulting Engineers."
AND THAT the tender be awarded to Mirco Contractors at the tender
price plus the extra costs for foolings of $4,860 making a total
price of $460,630 and that in the event that a sprinkler system
is required, there would be an extra amount of $23,600.

THAT Resolution #C-77-l097 be lifted from the table.

The Fire Chief reported that the three quotations submitted for
the new tanker truck were as follows:-
Mobile Tank Industries Limited..... $31,000
King Seagrave...................... 35,298
A.J. Stone Pierreville........ ..... 40,500
The Fire Chief recommended acceptance of the quotation of Mobile
Tank Industries Limited.
On being put to a vote resolution #C-77-l097 was passed.

THAT Councillor Woodyard be authorized to pursue the matter of
the artisian well at Kendal and report back to a future meeting.
