Present were: Mayor Garnet B. Rickard
Councillor Donald W. Allin
Councillor Alfred Gray - from 8:15 p.m.
Councillor Jasper W. Holliday - from 7:25 p.m.
Councillor R. Bruce Taylor
Councillor Edward R. Woodyard
Town Clerk J.M. McIlroy
Absent: Councillor Robert Dykstra
Also present were the Town Solicitor, Mr. David J.D. Sims,
the Solicitor for Durham Central Agricultural Society and also
members of the Agricultural Society and Orono Athletic Society.

THAT Council extend the approval of the draft application of
A.R. Jeffery Construction Limited (#18T 24002) until
January 25th, 1978 and that the Ministry of Housing be so
notified.

THAT the Town enter into a lease agreement with the Durham Central
Agricultural Society for a term of 25 years commencing
September 1st, 1977 with two options to renew for periods of
10 years each of the lands to be the site of the Orono Arena,
the said lands to be defined by survey by Merrill D. Brown, O.L.S
The lease is to contain all other terms as set out in a draft
lease submitted to Mayor Rickard by the Town Solicitor on
July 4th, 1977. The lease is to contain a licence to the
Durham Central Agricultural Society to use the Arena for a period
of 21 days commencing August 25th in each year or such other
period as may be mutually agreed upon by the parties (or in the
case of the Town by the Orono Community Centre Board). The lease
agreement is to contain a first right of refusal to the Town to
acquire lands on which the arena is to be located and the lands
to be used as parking.

Mall be approved and appropriate By-law presented to Council.

THAT leave be granted to introduce By-Law No. 77-56 being a
By-law to authorise the execution of an agreement between the
Town and L.D.C.M. Investments Limited and Barmond Buildings
Limited and the said By-law be now read a first time.
