Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council held in Orono
Town Hall at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6th, 1977.
Present were: Mayor Garnet B. Rickard
Councillor Donald W. Allin
Councillor Robert Dykstra
Councillor Jasper W. Holliday
Councillor R. Bruce Taylor
Councillor Edward R. Woodyard
Absent: Councillor Alfred Gray
Resolution #C-77-1060
Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Dykstra.
THAT no action be taken regarding draft By-Law No. 77-54 as
submitted by the Town Clerk relative to the amendment to the
Clarke Zoning By-Law to allow inground swimming pools in
conservation or flood control areas.

THAT the Town Solicitor be asked to submit a letter to Council
giving his interpretation as to the Committee of Adjustment's
powers or jurisdiction in this matter.

THAT leave be granted to introduce By-Law No. 77-53 being .a by-law
to amend By-Law No. 76-25 being a by-law to regulate signs in
the Town of Newcastle, and that the said by-law be now read a
first time.

Members of the Durham Central Agricultural Society and Orono
Athletic Society were present to discuss the proposed agreement
for the use of the Society's land to build an arena and also
a by-law to appoint a Couununity Centre to manage it.

THAT the meeting go into camera to discuss certain aspects
of the proposed agreement.

Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Con. Woodyard.
THAT Councillor Holliday be appointed to meet with Solicitors
Sims and Lovekin to amend the agreement in accordance with
opinions expressed at the meeting and that the agreement be
discussed again at a future meeting.
