Special Council Minutes
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
April 5th, 1977
Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council held in Court
Room No.2 on Tuesday, April 5th, 1977 at 10:25 p.m.
Roll Present were: Mayor Garnet B. Rickard
Call Councillor Donald W. Allin

Jasper W. Holliday
R. Bruce Taylor
Edward R. Woodyard
Absent: Councillor Alfred Gray
Mayor Rickard advised that he had called Councillor Gray who
said that he had no objection to the meeting being held and
after having asked those Councillors present if they had objections
and none being offered he declared the meeting in order.

THAT the second reading of By-Law No. 77-23 be lifted from the
table.

THAT Rule 33 be suspended for the remainder of the meeting.

Legislation
& By-Laws

TPAT the following Report of the Legislation & By-Laws Committ~~
be adopted:-
That the letter dated April 5th, 1977 from the Town Solicitor
be received for information and it be noted that he is s~tisfied
that the provisions of By-Law No. 77-23 will effectively amend
the provisions of By-Law No. 1653 of the former Township of
Clarke to give effect to the wishes of Durham Central Agricultural
Society to build a new arena on the site of the Orono Fair Grounds;
And furthermore, that By-Law No. 77-23 be reco~mended to Council
for approval.
