REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD MAY 7 1984
ADMIN. 47 - 84
SUBJECT: Referral of Hall Board requests from the
April 24th 1984 Council meeting
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That report Admin. 47 - 84 be received for information
and Council direction.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
At the regularly scheduled Council meeting of April 24th by resolution
#C-285-84, #C-286-84 and #C-291-84, the matter of the Solina Hall Board
request and their later letter requesting a $1,000 grant as well as the
Newtonville Community Hall Board and Hampton Hall Board requestawere referred
to the General Purpose and Administration Committee for consideration.
Traditionally, staff have not made specific recommendations with respect to
the disposition of Hall Board requests. As such, it would be appropriate
for the General Purpose and Administration Committee to make recommendations
to Council with respect to the three Hall Boards.
As Council members are well aware, the budget for 1984 has been struck.
No funds were provided for these projects. If funds are to be drawn for one or more
of the requests, we will have to draw it from the Parkland Reserve Fund,
Account Number 1110-X-166-6. Council may wish to defer any funding of these
projects until budget discussions in 1985.
For the information of Council members, I am attaching the related request
of each Hall Board.
Respectfully submitted,
DSJ:nof David S. Johnston, M.C.I.P.,
Chief Administrative Officer

At a meeting of the Hampton Commeunity Centre Hoard, held on
December 6P19831 a motion was passed to ask Council to consider,
in their 1984 budget, a dropped ceiling for the Hampton Coammunity
Centre.
At present all of the wires for the electrical system are
exposed, ,A dropped ceiling would eliminate this unsightly mess
and would be the final renovation to make the Centre a very
attractive facility.
In April 1983 we hud an estimate for materials only, excluding
lights, from Henry Huildall in the amount of $1876.39. In September
1983 Joe Gerritts gave me an estimate of 01.50 a square foot for
materials and labour plus $100.00 each for florescent lights, lie
suggested we would need eight lights. The square footage of the
Centre is 2048 square feet so we are looking at a cost of'x.$3000 to
$4000,
On behalf of the Hampton C amnunity Centre Board, I thank
Council for their consideration of this requests,
