REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING HELD DECEMBER 3 1984
ADMIN. 90 - 84
SUBJECT: Criteria for consideration of a
Nothern Fire Station
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Administrator's report ADMIN. 90 -84 be received;
2. That the attached Schedule "A" be adopted as the criteria
under which Council would consider the development of a
northern fire station.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
At the October 13th 1984 Council meeting the Implementation
Strategy for the Fire Services report was adopted with Recommendation
1.5.1.3 of the report being referred to Town staff for further
consideration.
The primary concern was with the criteria that might be applied to
trigger a further examination of the development of a northern
station. In developing the attached Schedule "A" staff attempted
to identify criteria which relate to the comments made by councillors
and the information which is available without the development of
a separate study. It is hoped that while this criteria will not
exactly match the fire service area that might be served from a
northern station, it will provide a meaningful trigger mechanism for
the reconsideration of the station by Council.
Respectfully submitted,
DSJ:nof David Johnston, M.C.I.P.,
Chief Administrative Officer
