HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-09-21REPORT #7 TO: Members of Council FROM: Mayor Garnet B. Rickard DATE: September 21st, 1979 SUBJECT: Hampton Mill Pond On Thursday, September 19th, 1979,I convened a meeting in the Bell Building Committee Room to discuss the hazardous condition of the road across the mill pond in Hampton, a condition that has been caused by water seeping through next to the dam and bridge structure. This road has been closed by the Town's Public Works Department, thus creating inconvenience for the Citizens of Hampton, the School Board, Postal Office and others. The following were invited to attend the meeting: Councillor Ivan Hobbs, Chairman Public Works Committee Mr. Jack Dunham, Director of Public Works Mr. Albert Guiler, Town Manager Councillor Ann Cowman, Representative on C.L.O.C.A. Councillor Jasper Holliday, Representative on C.L.O.C.A. Mr. A. Thompson, Chairman of the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education Mr. Sid Worden, Board Representative, Ward 1 Mr. A. Werry, Board Representative, Ward 1 Mr. D. Siston, Director, Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education Mr. John Goodwin, Chairman of C.L.O.C.A. Mr. William Campbell, General Manager of C.L.O.C.A. All were present except Councillor Hobbs who had other commitments. A good and thorough discussion took place reviewing the facts leading up to the present situation. It became quite evident that a completely satisfactory solution will take some time. However, to resolve the problems of the Citizens, School Board and others, some immediate action is necessary. I would, therefore, recommend that the Town convene a meeting in Hampton with the various agencies involved with the objective of resolving the problems associated with the road and Mill Pond.
