SUBJECT: Mr. & Mrs. Siegel - Road Improvement - Allowance
between Lots 19 and 20, Cone. 3 and 4, former
Township of Darlington - north of Maple Grove
Mr. & Mrs. Siegel called on me in my office
several months ago, suggesting that they are prepared to make
a contribution to the improvement of the above noted road
so that they might acquire a building permit for a residence.
I forwarded this information verbally to the
Works Department trusting that the Works Department and Mr.
& Mrs. Siegel would discuss this matter further. However,
a memorandum from the Works Department on October 28th,
1981 indicates that there has been no dialogue.
Mr. & Mrs. Siegel own some 32 acres of land
where they grow strawberries and other crops. Without their
presence on the property by way of a residence, they have
experienced many problems, such as a tractor being stolen,
never to be recovered, a rotor tiller (almost new) being
stolen and a staw pile, which had been purchased for covering
the strawberries, was burned and other lesser incidents.
They also claim that at the present time there
is a great amount of garbage and litter being disposed of
on this roadside.
Because Mr. & Mrs. Siegel are willing to make a
contribution to the development of thi� oad, I would
request that a meeting be arranged war/staff and Mr. &
Mrs. Siegel, to take place in the near future. I would also
request that I_be in attendance at such meeting together with
any other Member of Council who may be interested in this
proposal.
