REPORT TO COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 4th, 1982

SUBJECT: BICYCLE BY-LAW 80-36

RECOMMENDATION:
That this report be received for information.

The Town of Newcastle bicycle by-law has been under discussion
from time to time. As a result of meetings with staff and representatives
of the Durham Regional Police Department, I have made a request that
the provisions of the by-law be emphasized to the school children
through the Community Services Officer of the Police Department.
I have now had confirmation from Superintendent D.J. Edwards,
Acting Deputy Chief of Police, Operations Branch, that this is indeed
being done.
I have noticed a considerable improvement in the
operation of bicycles by the school students in the Bowmanville
area.
