MEETING OF APRIL 1st, 1985
FROM: MAYOR G. B. RICKARD

CHRIS BEAUDUANE PRODUCTIONS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
TELEPHONE 623-3379
It is respectfully recommended that the Committee recommend
to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Council suggest the names of organizations
which might be interested in this type of
production in our Municipality.
BACKGROUND:
I received the attached letter from Chris Beauduane Productions
sometime ago. As you can see this company is interested in producing films
related to the preservation of heritage and multi-culturalism.
It occurred to me that other Members of Council might
be aware of some organizations which would be interested in a production
like Mr. Beauduane's film, "Gathering", based on the Town of Campbellford's
story.
Respectfully submitted,

Dear Mr. Rickard;
Earlier this year, Chris Beauduane Productions made a
film about Campbellford, Ontario. Including dramatic scenes
from the towns past and highlighting its Scottish and Irish
heritage, 'Gathering' generated a great deal of interest right
from the beginning. Chris Beauduane Productions organized
a heritage concert, inviting local actors, musicians and
dancers to participate. Concert scenes were included in the
film along with important historical photographs. Added to
this were interviews with long-time local residents who
narrated the story of the town. The result is a very unique
and charming film which is being distributed to schools and
libraries across Canada. CBC has aired it twice and plans
to air it again in 1985.
Chris Beauduane Productions is interested in producing
more films of this type, related to the preservation of
heritage and multi -cultural themes. We would be very happy
to hear from groups in your community and answer any questions
they might have in this regard.
PLEASE NOTE: Up to 75% of the costs involved to make
a film by us about your community can be funded by a Wintario
Grant (made available to local citizens' groups or organizations)
