REPORT TO THE COUNCIL MEETING OF JULY 22, 1985

SUBJECT: MAYOR'S REPORT No. 14-85
INDUSTRIAL PROMOTION EXHIBIT AT THE
DURHAM CENTRAL AGRICULTURAL FAIR
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended to Council that:
1. This report be received; and
2. That Council approve of the sponsoring by the Town of an
industrial promotion exhibit at the Durham Central Agricultural
Fair, September 5-8, 1985; and
3. That local industries be invited to join with the Town in
the development of this exhibit; and
4. That the costs for this industrial promotion exhibit be
taken from the Industrial Reserve Account No.1110-X-00163-9,
such costs not to exceed $500.00.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
As a result of continuing dialogue with local industries over the
past several years, the Town has sponsored a number of activities to encourage
industrial development within the Town, with the co-operation of local industry.
This year, I would propose that Council focus on an industrial
promotion exhibit at the Durham Central Agricultural Fair in Orono from
September 5 to 8th, 1985. With attendance at the fair expected to exceed
20,000 persons over the four-day event, it is an excellent opportunity to
promote industries within the Town.
The members of the Durham Central Agricultural Society Board
and some local business people have indicated a willingness to co-operate with
such a project.
