SUBJECT: MAYOR'S REPORT NO. 17-85
INDUSTRIAL PROMOTION EXHIBIT - DURHAM CENTRAL AGRICULTURAL
SOCIETY FAIR

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended to Council that
1. This report be received; and
2. That a letter of appreciation be sent to all of those
representatives of industries which participated in the
Industrial Promotion Exhibit at the Durham Central
Agricultural Fair in Orono on September 5 - 8th, 1985; and
2. That the Town. of Newcastle utilize the opportunities for
such promotional exhibits and local industries be encouraged
to participate in such joint ventures in the future.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
The industrial promotion exhibit at the Durham Central Agricultural
Fair in Orono this past weekend must be considered a success. I heard
many favourable comments and people were amazed at the number of industries
in the Town and the products produced here. This was made possible by the
co-operation of all of those who participated in the exhibit and in
particular, staff from the Darlington Generating Station.
This exhibit also coincided with the 75th Anniversary of Goodyear
Canada Inc..
A complete list of all of the contributors to the promotional
exhibit and the prizes given out and the names of the prize winners will
be reported on in the near future.
