REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 16th, 1985
SUBJECT: MAYOR'S REPORT NO. 18-85

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that Committee recommend to
Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That the Town of Newcastle purchase a one-half page
advertisement in the Canadian Statesman for the Goodyear
Canada Inc. 75th Anniversary supplement; and
3. That the cost of this advertisement, in the amount of
$160.00, be charged to Account No. 7007-0235-X-5,
Receptions and Tributes; and
4. That the Town of Newcastle recognize the actual date of
Goodyear Canada Inc. locating in Bowmanville, 75 years
ago on October 10th, 1985, by presentation of a plaque
to commemorate this date.
COMMENT:
On or about the week of October 7th, 1985, the Canadian
Statesman will feature a supplement to its weekly edition of the newspaper,
which supplement will recognize the 75h Anniversary of Goodyear Canada Inc.
in Bowmanville. I would suggest that the Town of Newcastle purchase a
one-half page ad in this supplement at a cost of $160.00, which sum would
be charged to Account No. 7007-0235-X-5.
In order to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Goodyear's
location in Bowmanville, I believe it would be appropriate for the Town
of Newcastle to present a plaque to the company, on that date, ie.
October 10th, 1985.
