SUB..ECT: TOWN OF NEWCASTLE UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN -
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended to Council:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Mrs. Lou Ann Birkett, the Chairperson of the Newcastle area
for the United Way of Oshawa - Whitby - Newcastle, be
congratulated on the success of the 1985 United Way Campaign
in the Town of Newcastle.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
In 1985, Mrs. Lou Ann Birkett has acted as the Chairperson for the
Town of Newcastle area for the annual United Way Campaign. The goal set by the
campaign for this area was $45,000.00 and this amount has been met and exceeded
to $52,000.00, with reports of donations still coming in.
I believe that the credit for the success of the campaign in this
area should go to Mrs. Lou Ann Birkett, the Purchasing Agent for the Corporation
of the Town of Newcastle.
As Council, we should offer congratulations to her and we should be
proud of a staff person who has taken on this extra duty in the interests of
her community.
