THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW NO. 2001-125
Being a by-law to appoint Department Heads and to repeal By-law
Nos. 81-87, 82-12,'86-4, 86-18,*88-47,'88-48,'88-52;88-174,
89-35, 89-220,-89-221,'93-39, 95-75, and 99-69
WHEREAS the Council of the Municipality of Clarington deems it necessary to re-organize the
Municipal administration structure to achieve effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery;
and
WHEREAS at its meeting on June 25, 2001 Council approved the recommendations contained in
Report #ADMIN-02-01 including the new departmental organization structure;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington enacts as
follows:
1. THAT the Departments of the Municipality of Clarington, the titles of the heads of the
Departments, and the persons hereby appointed as heads of the Departments are as set out
below in this section 1:

2. THAT the responsibilities of the Departments referred to in section 1 be those which are
set out in the Annual Budget of the Municipality as approved by Council from time to
time and any other responsibilities approved by Council from time to time.
3. THAT notwithstanding the passing of this By-law, each of the Directors listed in Column
1 shall exercise the powers and perform the responsibilities of the officials who were the
heads of Departments of the Municipality under the Municipality's previous
organizational structure who are listed on the corresponding line of Column 2, under
statutes, regulations, conditions imposed under the Planning Act, by-laws and agreements
applicable to the Municipality or to which the Municipality is a party whether they are
passed or made before or after the day on which the By-law is passed:

4. (a) THAT during a period of absence of the Chief Administrative Officer, Marie
Marano shall exercise the powers and perform the responsibilities of the Chief
Administrative Officer and shall be described as the Acting Chief Administrative Officer;
and

(b) THAT during a period of absence of the head or Director of a Department listed
in Column 1, the person who holds the office or position of an official or a manager who
is listed on the corresponding line of Column 2 shall exercise the powers and perform the
responsibilities of the head or Director of a Department provided for in this By-law and
under statutes, regulations, conditions imposed under the Planning Act, by-laws and
agreements which refer to the head or Director of the Department in question:

5. THAT the following By-laws are repealed: By-law Nos. 81-87, 82-12, 86-4, 86-18,
88-47, 88-48, 88-52, 88-174, 89-35, 89-220, 89-221, 93-39, 95-75, and 99-69.
By-law read a first and second time this 25`" day of June, 2001.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 25`" day of June, 2001.
