HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/14/1983 (Special) REPORT TO THE COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 14 1983 ~ Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: The following recommendations to Council were made at a special meeting of the General Purpose and Administration Committee held on March 14 1983 1. Reserve and Reserve Funds THAT Report TR-83-l3 be received. The attached by-laws to establish Reserves and Reserve Funds be approved by Council: 83-45 - being a by-law to establish a Reserve for Sick Credit Liabilities. 83-46 - being a by-law to establish a Reserve for Equipment Replacement - Public Works 83-47 - being a by-law to establish Reserve Funds for Lot Levies - Town of Newcastle 83-48 - being a by-l aw to establ ish Reserve Funds for Lot Levi es - Courtice Urban Area. The transactions within the reserves and reserve funds to December 31 1982, as listed in the report, be approved. . 2. Current and Capital Budgets THAT the 1983 Current Budget and Capital Budget for the Town of Newcastle be approved with the following amendments: (a) the 1983 grant to the Bowmanville Lions Club be increased to $4,500. from $4,000. and the $500. be drawn from Unallocated Grant Monies within the "Grants - Outside Organizations" section of the 1983 budget. (b) One basic Auto Extrication Kit and Specialized Extrication Equipment be purchased for the Fire Oepartment. (c) Council provide Fidelity Bonding for the Treasurers of all local Boards at an annual premium of $557.00. (d) Receptions and Tributes Account 7007-0235 x 5 be raised to $15,000. Account 7007-0298 x 9 be decreased to $71,000. . . . . REPORT TO COUNCIL OF MEETING OF MARCH 14 1983 3. Public Works 1983 Road Subsidy Applications WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Newcastle wishes to continue to up grade the Town's road system and provide the necessary works to maintain the existing road system within the Town; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Newcastle approves the 1983 Public Works Budget in the amount of $3,723,255. which is supported, in part, by the 1983 Ministry of Transportation and Communications subsidy allocation of $1,535,000.; AND FURTHER, the Council of the Town of Newcastle approves the submission of a request for a 1983 supplementary allocation of subsidy from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications in the amount of $18,000. to meet construction costs of $36,000. for a further extension of the Baseline Road Storm Sewer.
