Southway Drive re Drainage Problem Tenants' Association Ve ltri Comp 1 ex Solina Park re 4It Additional Park Land Recess Deloitte, Haskins & Sells - 1981 Financial Statement . - 2 - June 14th 1982 Mr. George Weekes presented some financial estimates of the cost of the restoration and the expected sources of funding. The total cost as shown in the Study, is $477,500 including the house, potting shed, gallery and workshop, and carriage house. Some funding would be available from the Ontario Heritage Foundation. The balance could be from Wintario, the Municipality and Museum funds. Mr. Carl Brunt, spoke to a petition from residents of Southway Drive in Bowmanville, requesting curbs and gutters on the street. He stated that the road was much higher than the properties which resulted in flooding. Mr. George Walton, representing the Tenants Association in the Veltri Complex, outlined the background of the request for a cross-walk at King and Division Streets in Bowmanville. He said that he had verbal assurance that a crosswalk would be installed and the signs had already been put up. However, the lines had not been painted on the road. He was advised that the By-law setting up the crosswalk had been tabled at Regional Council to allow further examination of the safety factors. Mr. Herb Tink, Chairman of the Solina Park Board spoke to the Committee relative to the proposed expansion of their park. He stated that there was only one field of 2.4 acres at present, whi ch was used for soccer, baseball and children's T-Ball. The Board had investigated expanding at the present site but had found it would be costly. Property is available for sale adjacent to the Solina Community Hall; one lot approximately 10 acres and one 13 acres. He suggested that the present park could be rezoned residential and divided into 3 lots, and sold to provide funds for the purchase. He asked that the matter be reviewed as soon as possible as one of the properties is for sale on the open market. There would be a one year lag between the purchase and the use of the property.
