(2) District Plan for the Hamlet of Solina

Dr. Mofeed Michael, Planning Director and Mr. John Sharpe, Planner,
both from the Region's Planning and Development Department, presented
two alernative plans for the development of Soling.
The presentation was illustrated by base mapping with a series of
overlays showing the existing uses, land use designations according
to the Darlington Official Plan, zone categories a000rding to By-law
# 2111, development oonsiderations and non -developable areas.
Alternative No.1 was a low profile plan providing for a minimum and
maximum residential development surrounding the existing hamlet.
Alternative No.2 suggested that the major portion of development
should take place on the north side of the existing hamlet.

Both alternatives suggested slow growth limited by a maxii�num number
of new houses to be constructed in each year.
Voting Privileges
The Chairman ruled that all members of Council, who were not members
of the Planning Advisory Committee would be entitled to vote on any
matter coming before this meeting.

Moved by Mr. R. Batson, seconled by Mr. R. Hetherington,
That both Plan A and Plan B be presented to the public.

Resolution No. P-114-77
Moved by Councillor Holliday, seconded by Councillor Taylor,
That a public meeting be held in the Community Hall., Solus., to
present to the public, both alternative A and Alternative B of a
proposed District Plan for the J art et of Solina.
"CARRIED"
Dr. Michael and the Secretary were authorized to arrange for the
public meeting to be held in July.
(3) Green Paper an Planning for AgricultuTe.

Mr. Don Welsh, Secretary of Durham Federation of Agriculture and
%fir. Gordon Barrie, a Director of the Durham Federation, addressed
the Committee la support of 'Food Land Guidelines' as prepared by
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Director's Report # 262 was brought forward and considered.
Resolution No. P-115--77
Maved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Mr. H. Ballon,
That this Committee endorse the recommendations as laid down in the
Green Paper and further that the Director prepare a report, for
presentation to the next meeting of this Committee; the report to
include comments received from the Durham Federation of Agriculture
and from the Region's Planning Department.
