ITEM (1) CHAIRMAN'S REMARKS In calling the meeting to order, Chairman, Councillor Entwisle, announced that the agenda for this meeting would consist of a review of the proposed mapping of the Urban areas of Bowmanville, Newcastle and Orono. These maps when approved would accompany the text of and form part of the Interim District Plan. ITEM (2) DAVID BARBER Mr. Dave Barber presented individual coloured maps of the aforenoted areas. These maps illustrated the land use designations as proposed by the Planning Cohsultants, ITEM (3) ORONO MAPPING (i) Senior Citizens Housing Special Meeting, November 25, 1974, continued Page 2 jesolutlon No- P®111—Z4 Moved by Da Moffatt, seconded by Ho Balsono That the lands owned by the Durham County Senior Citizens Lodge in part of Lot 29, Con, 5, Clarke be designated for the purpose of Senior Citizens Housing on the final draft of the Interim District Plan, "CARRIED" (ii) Industrial Resolution Tdo PP312 Moved by Ha Balson, seconded by Dr. Rowsello That those lands in Lot 28, Con. 5, Clarke, presently zoned 1°Ml" and as shown on the aforenoted mapping with a rural designation, be reclassified to a deferred industrial category save and excepting the lands immediately surrounding the land owned by Nesting -01rniture Ltd., which lands are to remain in an Industrial 91M119 category. "CARRIED" ITEM (4) NEWCASTLE 'GIPPING (1) Waltonia Park Resol - onNoo_Pf31Y-Z4 Moved by Do Moffatt, seconded by Ho Balsono That those lands in the Village of Newcastle and commonly referred to as Waltonia Park be designated Special Meeting, November 25, 1974, continued Page 3 as an Environmental Protection Lrea in the Interim District Plan and as a non -conforming use in the implementing zoning by --law. "C.LUIED" (ii) Lions Club and Public School 'rounds Resolution Not._P-315-74 Moved by Councillor Lyall, seconded by Dr. Rowsell. That the property owned by the Lions Club together with the Public School grounds, situate in part of Lots 27 and 28, Con. 1 be designated for Community Facilities. (iii) ARproval Resolution No, P-316-74 "CARRIED" Moved by H. Balson, seconded by H. Hammond. That the mapping of the Newcastle area as amended be approved by this Committee subject however to any previous committment, by resolution, of this Committee in respect of Square'100 proposed dev- slopments in Lots 29 and 30, B. F. Con. "CARRIED" ITEM (5) BOWYLOVILLE NAPPING (1) Considerable discussion developed around the land use designation of the C.P.R. Property, including the freight sheds, situate on the south side of Wellington Street and to the east side of Scugog Street together with the lands immediately north and south of the easterly extension of King Street. Special Meeting, November 25, 197+7 continued Page 4 That Mr. Maria Veltri and Mr. Robinson be permitted to address this Committee. "CARRIED" Mr. Veltri spoke to the matter of his proposed development of the former bus station on the north side of King Street. Mr. Robinson spoke to matters in general. (ii) Downtown Area and KQnA Street East Resolution No. P-318-24 Moved by R. Hetherington, seconded by H. Hammond. That the downtown area of Bowmanville together with the easterly extension of King Street East to Simpson Avenue be given the same land use designation in the proposed Interim District Plan as is presently des- cribed in the Official Plan of the former Town of Bowmanville, save and excepting those lands to the immediate north and south of No. 2 highway from Ont- ario Street east to Simpson Avenue which lands are to be given the special designation of Arterial Com- mercial and further that the five acre parcel of land situate to the south-east of the intersection of No. 2 highway and Simpson Avenue be designated for Highway Commercial uses.
