Minutes of a PUBLIC MEETING of the
Community Services Committee held
on August 14, 1979 at 7:30 p.m. in
Hampton Hall
Roll
Call Present were: Councillor Maurice Prout, Chairman
Councillor Keith D Barr, Member
Councillor William Clarke, Member
Councillor Ann Cowman, Member
Councillor Jasper W. Holliday, attending
Mayor Garnet B. Rickard, Member
Deputy Clerk, Gertrude Gray, Secretary
and approximately 25 other persons.
Chairman Prout called the meeting to order and thanked
those who had come. IIe explained the purpose of the
meeting, which was to elect a Hall Board for the Hampton
Hall. He introduced the members of Council and called
on Nlayor Rickard.
Mayor Rickard explained that he was on the Council
which built the Hall. It was built as Municipal Offices
for the Township of Darlington and 'the Municipality
received a Community Centres Grant of $5000. for the
Use as a Community Centre. 1110 Hall_ was financed from
general funds of the entire lbwnshi.p of Darlington and
the first Board was appointed from all parts of the
Township. Ric Hall was used for community groups and
only a sn><all fee was charged. The Board was reappointed
on a year-to-year basis. 'Ibis year the Board did not
reply to a request for nominations for members of the
Board. "'is mcet."19 was uIlled to 010ct a Board which
would be carynosed of 5 members and 2 nx�mbers of Council.
COunci.l.l.ors COwman and lloll.iday had already been appointed
by Council as the Council nxmbers on the Board
Nominations 1I1e Chainmun called for nominations from the floor

Nil'. Herb Hollister, Mr. Bill_ Richardson
Mrs. Carol. Clemens.
