Minutes of a meeting of the Community Services
Committee held on Tuesday, July 24, 1979, at
9:30 a.m. in the Bell Building Committee Room

Adoption THAT the minutes of the meetings of June 12, and June 28,
of Minutes 1979, be adopted as read.

As the Fire Chief had other commitments, the items dealing
with the Fire Department were considered.

Water THAT the project to install municipal water supply
Supply at Courtice Fire Station #4, as detailed in the
Courtice Fire Chief's report dated July 6, 1979, be approved
Fire Station #4 subject to a recommendation as to how this will be
financed.

Orono Hydro THAT Fire Chief Hayman's report dated July 4th,
Electric 1979 be endorsed and in the event of the transfer of
Building, the Orono Hydro Electric offices to a central office,
Orono. consideration be given to the feasibility of acquiring
the building for Fire Station #3, Orono.

Caretaking THAT the recommendation in Fire Chief's report dated
Courtice July 5, 1979 be endorsed and the Personnel of Fire
Fire Station Station #4, Courtice do the caretaking of the fire
#4 hall themselvesfor`a 6 months' trial period and the
$250. allotted for caretaking be advanced to them
to enable the association to purchase some of the small
necessary items to operate the Department.

Fire THAT the recommendation in Fire Chief's report, dated
Emergency July 5th, 1979 be endorsed and Fire Emergency Service
Service Information be published in the Canadian Statesman,
Information the Newcastle Reporter, the Newcastle Independent and
the Orono Weekly Times as per ad submitted.

Aluminum THAT the recommendation in the Fire Chief's Report,
Siding dated July 11, 1979 be endorsed and he be authorized
Fire Hall to call for quotes on installation of aluminum siding
#2, Newcastle for Fire Hall #2, Newcastle Village.

THAT the following recommendation in Fire Chief's
report dated July 20th, 1979, be adopted:
Car Wash & That relative to a request from the personnel of
Bake Sale Fire Station #4, for a car wash and bake sale, the
Fire Station request be approvedprovidedconsideration of use
X14, Courtice of apparatus bay to set up tables for display of
goods rather than use of upstairs.

Upstairs THAT the Fire Chief bring back to the Committee
Room Fire a proposal for the use of the upstairs room at
Station #4 Fire Station #4, Courtice.

The Fire Chief advised of the dry condition of
the Mosport area and the danger of fire.

Fire Danger THAT Committee recommend to the Town Manager and
Mosport Area the Fire Chief that they report the situation of
the danger of fire from motorbikes etc. in the
Mosport Area to the Durham Regional Police.

Mr. Walkey explained the present make up of the
Clarke Cemetery Board and the condition of the
abandoned cemeteries.

Legal THAT the Chairman of Community Services liaise with
Signs Mr. Walkey, Mr. Wight, Chief Building Official and
in Mr. L. Simpson, By-law Enforcement Officer and Mr.
Cemeteries Panning, Director to answer the question of the
erection of legal signs in the cemeteries.

Cemetery THAT the Secretary check the Cemeteries Act re
Board abandoned cemeteries and, if the Town has the
authority, Councillors Clarke and Barr be appointed
to the Clarke Cemetery Board.

Darlington Mr. Wm. A. Richardson of Hampton, representing
Hall the Ladies Ball Team asked to use the Darlington
Hampton Hall for a dance with a Liquor Licence.

Public THAT the Chairman advertise a Public Meeting in
Meeting the Village of Hampton for the purpose of
Hampton electing a Hall Board for the Darlington Hampton
Hall.

with the Tenders. They reported that only the
last 2 tenders met all specifications.

Tender THAT it be recommended to Council that the Tender
Backhoe of Case Power & Equipment Ltd., Whitby, for a
Case Power & Backhoe, Model 580C at a total cost of $32,980.24
Equipment Ltd. including Federal Sales Tax, be accepted.

be adopted, effective September 1st, 1979,
