Barr, Member Councillor Wm. Clarke, Member Councillor Ann Cowman, Member Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member, at 2:40 p.m. Councillor J. W. Holliday, attending Deputy Clerk, Gertrude Gray, Secretary Also Present: Director of Community Services, T.A.Fanning Treasurer, K. DeGroot Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education Mr. Glen Holmes, Plant Superintendent Mr. S. Worden, Trustee Mr. K. Shackelton, Trustee Mr. G. Cameron, Trustee Mr. A. Werry, Trustee Mr. A. Thompson, Chairman Mr. H. Bradley, Principal, Courtice High School Mr. J. Sylvestervich, Vice -Principal Also Present: Mr. Wilf Brown Tennis Court Committee Mr. Maurice Wicks IT 11 Mr. John Kinghorn " " If There was a general discussion regarding the construction of Tennis Courtsat the Courtice High School. Mr. Worden stated that the construction had been approved by the School Board. Resolution ICS -132-79 Moved by Con..Cowman, seconded by Con. Clarke Construction THAT Council request the School Board to proceed Courtice immediately with the construction of Tennis Courts Tennis Courts at Courtice High School. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 2 - June 28, 1979 Mrs. Pat Best, Chairman of the Newcastle Library Board and Ms Dianne Dinneen, Chief Librarian, joined the meeting at this time for a discussion regarding the use of the Courtice High School Library as a combined Library. Mr. Thompson stated that the Board was interested in the mutual use of available space in Schools -_ for facilities. A proposal submitted by the Library Board was distributed to the members present and a general discussion followed. Mrs. Best spoke of a similar combined project in Oakville. The Treasurer stated that there was $75,000. in the budget for the establishment of a Library in Courtice, to be taken from the Park Fund from the sale of Road allowances in former Darlington to Ontario -Hydro - Resolution CICS -133-79 Moved by Con. Cowman, seconded by Mayor Rickard THAT a Committee for a preliminary review of the feasibility of a Library at Courtice High School be appointed, consisting of the Chairman of the Community Services Committee, representative of the Library Board, Library Staff, two representatives from the School Board, Councillor Cowman and Mr. H. Bradley, Principal of Courtice High School. IT-IFT IN Resolution TICS -134-79 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Cowman THAT Chairman Prout call the first meeting of the Committee.
