Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee held
on February 27, 1978:
1. Vice -Chairman
It was recommended to Council that Councillor D.W.Allin be appointed Vice -
Chairman of the Community Services Committee.
2. Bond Head Cemetery Board
Mr. Douglas Wright of the Bond Head Cemetery Board addressed the Committee
and stated that the present members of the Board do not wish to continue. It
was recommended to Council that the matter of appointments to the Board be
turned over to the Town Manager and a letter of appreciation be sent to the
former members thanking them for their services.
3. Jr. C. Hockey Club Beerfest
It was recommended to Council that the request of the Jr. C. Hockey Club to
use the Darlington Sports Centre for a Beerfest on September 14, 15, and 16,
1978 be granted and they be allowed one night free and be charged for two
nights, the fee to be decided after budget discussions.
4. Regional Fire Training School
It was recommended to Council that the request of the Fire Chief to send 5
members from the three Fire Halls in the Town to a Regional Fire Training
School at Pickering, April 10th to 14th, 1978 at a cost of the remuneration
of loss of wages of $5.00 per hour for the 40 hour week ($1000.) be granted.
5. Sidewalks - Bowmanville Museum
It was recommended to Council that the Bowmanville Museum Committee be advised
that the removal of snow from the sidewalk in front of the Museum is their
responsibility and they should budget accordingly.
6. Courtice Fire Hall
It was recommended to Council that the Town Manager contact an Engineer or
Architect to prepare specifications for calling for Tenders for the construction
of a Steel Span Building for the Courtice Fire Hall.
