Services Committee held on Monday, March 27,
1978, at 7 p.m. in the Committee Room of the
Bowmanville Town Hall

Mr. David King and Mr. Howard Bickell were present

Item 2 on the Report of the Finance.and Administration
Meeting of March 6, 1978, which was referred back to
this Committee.(Sharing of costs for repairs).

Cost Sharing There was a general discussion regarding the costs
of Repairs for repairs to halls and washrooms and the installation
to Halls of fire doors etc., and how the costs should be shared
and Washrooms between the Visual Arts and the Town.

Moved by Con. Woodyard, seconded by Con. Dykstra
THAT it be recommended to Council that they authorize the
work to be completed and the Town Manager meet with all
parties and come back with a report on the sharing of the
costs.

Community The Deputy Director of Community Services presented the
Services Community Services Report.
Report
Mr. G. Kennett, Program Director, reported that the repairs
Roof to the wind damage of the roof at the Visual Arts Centre
Repairs should be completed by .April_ 5, 1978.
Sr. Citizens The Deputy Director reported that the results of the
Steering meeting of the Steering Committee for Senior Citizens
Committee was not ready but would be ready for the next meeting.
He presented the Culture and Recreation Needs Survey
Needs Survey which had been prepared and sent out to citizens in the
Town.

THAT in response to a letter from the Bowmanville Minor
Hockey Association that the booking of the Darlington Sports
Centre for May 13 and 14, 1978 for a Garage Sale be accepted
and the request for waiving of the fee be referred to Budget
discussions and considered under Grants.

Subletting THAT the Staff of the Community Services Department
of grass cutting list the park and playground areas and abandoned cemeteries
parks and which have been. cleaned up, where the subletting of grass
abandoned cutting is practical and bring back a report.

Bond THAT the Town Manager and appropriate Staff have the by-laws
Head and records of Bond Head Cemetery updated as soon as possible

Grass Cutting THAT the Staff be directed to contact Walter Murphy
Bond Head in the Village of Newcastle to review the agreement
Cemetery for grass cutting at Bond Head Cemetery.

Mrs. Brabrook THAT Mrs. Brabrook be invited to the next meeting of
the Committee to discuss the concerns in her letter to
Mr. Sam Cureatz, M.P.P. for Durham East.
