HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-04-24i "CARRIED" Proposed Mr. John Hubicki, of Totten Sims Hubicki Associates Limited Courtice presented a Feasibility Study for a Proposed Courtice Fire Fire Hall Hall on Trull's Road, part lot 30, Conc. 3, former Township Feasibility of Darlington. He gave a comparison of the costs of a pre - Study engineered building and a conventional building and presented several proposals. He stated that he felt the two most urgent decisions were whether the bay should be 38' or 45' and whether a second storey should be provided at this time. Hayman Resolution TICS -114-78 Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Con. Allin Adoption THAT the minutes of the meeting of April 10, 1978 be adopted of Minutes as read. Dykstra Special Meeting of Council THAT the matter be tabled to a Special Meeting of Council on Monday, May 1, 1978 at 1 p.m. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 2 - April 24, 1978 i Enniskillen Mr. Jim McKenzie and Mr. Morris Pollard spoke to the Committee Ball regarding the need for repairs to the baseball diamond on the Diamond Enniskillen School Yard. Resolution #CS -117-78 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Dykstra THAT the Director of Community Services liaise with the School Board and representatives from Enniskillen regarding the cost of repairs to the ball diamond on the School Yard and report back to the Committee. "CARRIED" Senior Archdeacon Gracie reported to the Committee from the Senior Citizens Citizens Steering Committee. He recounted the four major findings Steering of his Committee. Committee 1. There are a great number of existing programs which benefit many Senior Citizens but he felt there was a need for a co - relation of these programs and greater communications so that they would be aware of programs which were available. 2. A need for a separate facility had not been demonstrated although there may be such a need in the future. 3. The following percentages regarding Senior Citizens' desire for separate facilities were: 20% in favour 20% opposed 60% uncommitted. 4. The Steering Committee did not deal with statistics but such a method could be employed. He stated that copies of his report would be made available to the Committee. After Chairing the Committeeoover the past months he observed that the greatest problem of a great number of Senior Citizens is that they have no interest in Community Groups; that there was a lack of specific direction from Senior Citizens. He felt that it would be worthwhile to have a list of activities available to Senior Citizens. He also commended the Community Care Facilities on King Street in Downtown Bowmanville. Dykstra THAT the report be received and Archdeacon Gracie and the Senior Sitizcns Steering Committeebe thanked for their efforts. "CARRIED" Director The Director of Community Services presented his report. of Community Resolution #CS -120-78 Services Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Con. Woodyard Water THAT it be recommended to Council that the repair work for Damage water damage at the Visual ARts Centre be proceeded with as Visual per estimate of Ashly 333 Company Limited, dated April 19, Arts 1978, at a cost of $301.75. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -121-78 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Mayor Rickard B.M.H.A. THAT the request of the B.M.H.A. to hold a Beer Garden with Garage Sale their Garage Sale at the Darlington Sports Centre on May 13, and Beer 1978, which was referred from the Council meeting of April Garden 24, be accommodated at the previously quoted fee of $125. "CARRIED AS AMENDED" Resolution #CS -122-78 Moved by Con. Woodyard, seconded by Mayor Rickard THAT the foregoing resolution be amended that the fee for a garage Sale be $125. and for a Beer Garden, $220. but if both were held on the same day, the fee be $220. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 4 - April 24, 1978 Orono Town The Secretary was asked to put the matter of the Orono Town Hall Board Hall Board on the next Agenda. Woodyard Abandoned THAT the Secretary get in touch with the Chairmen of the two Cemeteries Abandoned Cemetery Committees and ask them to report to the Committees next meeting regarding their activities for this coming year. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -124-78 Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Con. Woodyard Fees for THAT the Director of Community Services bring to the next Use of meeting of the Committee, a policy for fees for the use of Arenas the Arenas.
