Senior Archdeacon Gracie reported to the Committee from the Senior
Citizens Citizens Steering Committee. He recounted the four major findings
Steering of his Committee.
Committee
1. There are a great number of existing programs which benefit
many Senior Citizens but he felt there was a need for a co -
relation of these programs and greater communications so that
they would be aware of programs which were available.
2. A need for a separate facility had not been demonstrated
although there may be such a need in the future.
3. The following percentages regarding Senior Citizens' desire
for separate facilities were:
20% in favour
20% opposed
60% uncommitted.
4. The Steering Committee did not deal with statistics but such
a method could be employed.
He stated that copies of his report would be made available to
the Committee.
After Chairing the Committeeoover the past months he observed
that the greatest problem of a great number of Senior Citizens
is that they have no interest in Community Groups; that there
was a lack of specific direction from Senior Citizens.
He felt that it would be worthwhile to have a list of activities
available to Senior Citizens. He also commended the Community
Care Facilities on King Street in Downtown Bowmanville.
