Minutes of a meeting of the Community Services
Committee Meeting held on October 3, 1977 at
1:15 p.m. in the Committee Room of the Bowmanville
Town Hall.

Call Present were: Councillor Alfred Gray, Chairman
Councillor D. W. Allin, Member
Councillor J. W. Holliday, Member
Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member
Deputy Clerk, G. Gray, Secretary
Also Present: Director of Parks and Recreation,
T.A.Fanning
Resolution #CS -242-77
Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Gray
Adoption THAT the minutes of the meeting held on September 19,
of Minutes 1977, be adopted as read.

Mr. B. Heming Mr. B. Heming, representing the Tyrone Athletic
Tyrone Association, spoke to the Committee regarding:
Athletic
Association (1) ice time for family skating at Darlington Sports
Centre. The Director of Parks and Recreation advised
that 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays had been allotted to
the Association.
(2) commitment that local groups be given priority at
the Arena. Mr. Heming was informed that groups from
the Town of Newcastle are given priority at the local
Arenas.

Darlington THAT the Director of Parks and Recreation and Mr. Fred Payne
Sports find out the credit balance due to the Town from the
Centre Contractor and the cost of painting the entire front of
Repairs the Darlington Sports Centre and report to the Chairman
who is authorized to give approval to the work after
contacting members of this Committee.

Recreation THAT it be recommended to Council that $900. be transferred
Budget from repairs to Zamboni in the Recreation Budget to purchase
of nets and frames for Bowmanville Arena...(amount budgeted
$6000. amount spent approximately $600.)

Bowmanville Mrs. Helen Depew presented a report of. the Bowmanville
Cemetery Cemetery.

Overdue THAT Staff report back to the Committee on steps being
Accounts taken to collect overdue Cemetery Accounts.

Lipatnikov Mrs. Depew reported that she had answered Mrs. Novak's
Family letter regarding the Lipatnikov family.

City of THAT it be recommended to Council that letters be sent
Peterborough to the Honourable Robert Welch, Minister of Culture and
re 1981 Recreation for Ontario and the Hon. Iona Campagnolo,
Canada Minister of State for Fitness and Amateur Sport supporting
Games the bid of the City of Peterborough to obtain the 1981
Canada Games for their City.
