Present were: Councillor Alfred Gray, Chairman Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member Councillor D. W. Allin, Member Councillor Jasper W. Holliday, Member Secretary, Mrs. Margaret Brereton Peter Fleming, Totten Sims Hubicki Assoc. Resolution #CS -200-77 Moved by Mayor Rickard, secGrded by Con. Gray Tenders for THAT Tenders for the construction of an arena in Newcastle Arena, Village Village be opened. of Newcastle 11CARRIED" The Tenders were as follows: 1. Mircol Contractors Ltd., Trenton $455,570.00 pre-engineered; floor plan changed a little Bid Bond, $20,000. as required, enclosed, Time - begin within 45 days of acceptance competion, 32 weeks 2. R. Bibeau Construction, Brooklin $463,593.00 pre-engineered Bid Bond $20,000. enclosed Time begin 21 days after acceptance competion - 24 weeks 3. Chomitz Construction Co., Cobourg $478,855.00 pre-engineered Bid Bond - $20,000. enclosed Time - begin within 35 days of acceptance completion - 27 weeks 4, C.D.S. Construction & Design Services, Whitby Bid Bond $20,000. enclosed. $519,500.00 Time - begin in one (1) week Completion - 22 weeks. Peter Fleming pointed out certain requirements were set, however some leeway was given contractors as to using ideas which they thought might improve final product. He also pointed out that all tenders were exclusive of seating or sprinkler system costs. i Community Services Committee adjournment - 2 - July 7, 1977 Resolution #CS -201-77 Moved by Con. Holliday, seconded by Con. Allin THAT this Committee ask the Engineers, Peter Fleming specifically, to analyse submissions with a view to a reduction in costs and as well, Mr. Fleming was asked to get all costs re this project correlated so they can be discussed thoroughly. "CARRIED" Mayor Rickard will contact 'Wintario° to see if an extension can be granted re the building repair estimate of $170,000. It was noted that trao of the Tenders, Mircol and Bibeau included lists of deletions which would offer an alternate tender fee. It was decided the Community Services Committee, Peter Fleming and 4 members of the Newcastle Village & District Arena Building Organizetion meet to discuss the four submissions more comprehensively. The date of the meeting to discuss plans to be set later. Resolution #CS -202-77 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Holliday THAT the meeting adjourn. "CARRIED"
