Roll Call Present were: Councillor Alfred Gray, Chairman Councillor D. W. Allin, Member Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member - at 7:30 p.m. Councillor Jasper Holliday, Member - at 7:50 p.m. Deputy Clerk, G. Gray, Secretary. Resolution #CS -96-77 Dbied by Can. Allin, seconded by Con. Gray Adoption THAT the minutes of the meetings of March 7 and March 15, 1977 of Minutes be adopted as read. 9WRIT-IM M1 Parks The Director of Parks and Recreation presented his report. and Recreation Report Resolution #CS -97-77 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Gray Good Friday closing of THAT it be recommended to Council that the Bowmanville Arena Arenas and the Darlington Sports Centre be closed on Good Friday, April 8, 1977. "CARRIED" Repairs The Chairman reported that the Public Works Department will to check the Zamboni at the Bowmanville Arena and make a report Zamboni on the necessary repairs and if these repairs can be made by the Works Department Mechanic. Gray Spring THAT the following schedule of fees for Spring ani Summer and Summer Recreation Programs be recommended to Council: Recreation Program Kinsman "T" Ball - $2.00 Fees Baseball - $5.00 Soccer - $6.00 Figure Skating Carnival - $1.25 - .50�, Swimming - $9.50 - $5.50 Tennis Clinic Bowmanville & Orono - $4.00 Flood Light Permits - $8.00 (Bowmanville & Orono) Grass Cutting - $9.50 per hr. Softball - $5.00 Admission to Swimming Pools - .75p all day - $15.00 per season Family of 3 and over - $40.00 for season. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 2 - March 21, 1977 The Recreation Budget was discussed. Resolution #CS -99-77 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Gray Recreation THAT the Recreation Budget be given tentative approval and Budget forwarded to the Finance Committee. "CARRIED" Replacement Mr. Don Jackson of Jackson Ypes, discussed the two proposed Heating Schemes for replacement of heating equipment at the Darlington System Sports Centre. Darlington Sports Resolution #CS -100-77 Centre Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Holliday THAT it be recommended to Council that they accept Scheme X12 - 1 furnace and electric heat in the Ticket and Manager's Office - at an estimated cost of $16,316.00 and Tenders be invited. "CARRIED" Resolution SECS -101-77 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Allin THAT this project now be added to the Current Recreation Budget for the Darlington Sports Centre for 1977. "CARRIED" Cemetery The following members of the Darlington Cemetery Board were Boards present - Chairman, Mr. H. C. Muir, Members, Mr. Fred Griffin Mr. Gord Barrie and Mr. Sid Cornish. No members were present from the Cl rke Cemetery Board and no representative of the Boy Scouts. Resolution #CS -.102-77 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Allin Darlington THAT $1,500. be placed in the 1977 Budget for the Darlington Cemetery Cemetery Board for restoration work at Providence and Old Board Methodist Cemeteries. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 3 - Resolution #CS -103-77 March 21, 1977 Moved by Con. Holliday, seconded by Con. Allin By -Law THAT it be referred to the Legislation and By -Laws Committee re Cemeteries to prepare By-laws for taking over and restoring Providence Restoration and Old Methodist Cemeteries. eY�7�Ft "11 Visual Dr. Higginson spoke to the Committee regarding the requested Arts Grant for the Visual Arts Association. Allin Grant THAT the Committee support the request for $8,250. for the Visual Arts subject to a report of the costs of operating the building for 1976, and forward it to the Finance Committee for final review. Holliday, seconded by Mayor Rickard Bowmanville THAT the Clerk investigate to see how much the rate for plots Cemetery at Bowmanville Cemetery can be raised. - Rates "CARRIED" Resolution TICS -106-77 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Holliday Bowmanville THAT the Bowmanville Cemetery Budget go back to the Secretary - Cemetery Treasurer to determine what new rate is necessary to increase Budget the revenue. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -107-77 Community Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Holliday Recreation Centre THAT the attached Community Centre Boards for 1977, including Board two members of Council according to Para. 5 (1) of the Community Appointments Recreation Centres Act, 1974, be recommended to Council for for 1977 Approval. Allin Newcastle TEAT it be recommended to Council that Councillor Gray and Community Mayor Rickard be appointed to the Newcastle Community Hall Hall Board Board under Fara. 5 (1) of the Community Recreation Centres Appointments Act, 1974. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -109-77 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Holliday Newcastle THAT a Town of Newcastle Recreation Advisory Committee be Recreation appointed at the next meeting and the Committee members be Advisory prepared to make recommendations for appointments of persons Committee of varied interests.
