W. Allin, Member Councillor K. E. Lyall, Member Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member, until 3:50 p.m. Deputy Clerk, G. Gray, Secretary. Resolution #CS -291-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Adoption THAT the minutes of meeting of October 18, 1976 of be adopted. Minutes "CARRIED" The Director of Parks and Recreation, T. A. Fanning, Arena Manager, Roy Neads and Mr. Alfred Gray, Chairman of the Newcastle Arena Board were present at this point. Recreation Mr. Fanning presented his report Report Resolution #CS -292-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Mayor Rickard Manager THAT it be recommended to the Newcastle Arena Board that Newcastle Council concur with the Director of Recreation's recommendation Arena that Mr. John Hughes be appointed Arena Manager for the Newcastle Village Arena for the 1976-1977 season. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -293-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Allin Newcastle THAT Mr. Fanning, in consultation with Mr. Gray and the Arena Toxin Treasurer, review the Financial situation at the Newcastle Funding Arena and report to the next meeting of Finance on the necessary funding and method of funding for the balance of 1976. Allin, seconded by Mayor Rickard Parking THAT Mr. Fanning, in co-operation with Mr, Gray investigate Lot the cost and feasibility of making a parking lot out of the vacant lot, opposite the Arena in Newcastle Village, owned by the Town and consult with the necessary Staff to bring in a report to the Committee of the Whole. Allin Visual Arts THAT Chairman Cowman and the Mayor work with the Visual and Cream Arts Group to sce what is required for their tenancy in of Barley the Cream of Barley Mill. "CARRIED" Fire Fire Chief J. Hayman presented his report Chief's Report Resolution #CS -301-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Lyall Fire Hall THAT it be recommended to Council that they concur with #3 the price of $180. for installing aluminum windows at Repairs Fire Hall #3, Orono but competitive and firm prices be brought in regarding roof repairs. Lyall Answering THAT it be recommended to Council that they concur with the Service Chief's recommendation that Mrs. Grace Player be appointed Fire Hall to take over the agreement for the Answering Service at #1 Fire Hall SP1, Bowmanville. Lyall Fire Control THAT the Fire Chief submit a firm competitive price Valve on a zone control valve for Fire Station #2, Newcastle. Station X12 "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -305-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall Janitor THAT the matter of Janitor Service at Fire Hall #2 be Service tabled until the Chief reviews this matter with the Fire Hall #2 Newcastle Fire Iepartment. Allin Meeting THAT the Chief's notice of meeting at Courtice Secondary at School.. on November 2, 1976, at 7:30 p.m. be received for Courtice information. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -307-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Regional THAT it be recommended to Council that they support the Meeting Fire Chief's recommendation for providing refreshments, November 26 as at previous meetings, when the Town of Newcastle hosts 1976 the meeting of the Durham Regi�on November 26, 1976. Lyall Sidewalk THAT the Fire Chief contact the owners of establishments Grills on the Front Street in Bowmanville advising them of the Bowmanville potential fire hazard caused by trash in the grills in the Front Street sidewalks and that they be cleaned out. Allin, seconded by Mayor Rickard Recess THAT there be a 5 minute recess. "CARRIED" Cemetery The Cemetery Manager, N. VanSeggelin presented a report Bowmanville Resolution 46CS-310-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin THAT Mrs. Depew be invited in to the meeting as a Resource Person. "CARRIED" Resolution 46CS-311-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Babyland THAT the By-law 76-43 governing the Bowmanville Cemetary Marker be amended to provide that on a Babyland Grave the size of the flat marker shall not exceed 6" x 14". "CARRIED" Resolution 46CS-312-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Cremation THAT By-law 76-43 be amended to provide that on a Plot cremation plot the size of the flat marker shall not Marker exceed 10`° x 16". "CARRIED" Resolution 46CS-313-76 Moved by Con. Lyall Insulation THAT it be recommended to Council that they concur with Animal the first three items of Alternative SP1 of Mr. Warren's Pound proposal for insulation at the Animal Pound, the work be done now and charged to next years budget.
