HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-09-14TOWN OF NEWCASTLE Community Services Committee September 14th, 1976 Minutes of a special meeting of the Community Services Committee held in the Committee Room of the Bowmanville Town Hall on Tuesday, September 14th, 1976 at 7:00 p.m. Roll Present were: Councillor Ann Cowman, Chairman Call Councillor D.W. Allin, Member Councillor K.E. Lyall, Member Mayor G.B. Rickard, Member - at 8:00 p.m. Animal Control Officer J. Hancock presented his report. Resolution 'FCS -250-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Lyall. Repairs to Animal Control THAT the necessary repairs be made to the Animal Control Truck Truck to the maximum cost of $150.00. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -251-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin. New Animal THAT it be recommended to the 1977 Council that money to Control purchase a nein Animal Control Truck be placed in next Truck years budget. "CARRIED" Resolution +FCS -252-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin. Animal Control THAT the Building Inspector be requested to look at the Building Animal Control Building to check the insulation, etc., and report back to the next Committee meeting. Radio THAT it be recommended to the 1977 Council that money to Communication install radio communication system be placed in next years Animal Control budget. Selling THAT in view of Mr. Ficets absence that another person be of Dog contracted to sell Dog Tags and that Councillor Lyall work Tags on the replacement. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -255-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin. Mr. Fice THAT a letter be sent to Mr. Fice thanking him for his services to the Town to date. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -256-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin. Bowmanville THAT the letter dated September lot, 1976 from the Ministry Arena of Labour regarding the Bowmanville Arena being safe for summertime occupancy by the public and may remain open until October 15th, 1976 in its present condition, be received for information. "CARRIED" Mr. T.A. Fanning, Director of Parks and Recreation; Mr. R. Neads, Superintendent of Arenas; Mr. G. Kennett, Program Director and Mr. J. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin. Zamboni THAT the matter of the Zamboni be left with the Recreation Staff to bring back a report. "CARRIED" Resolution $ECS -2576 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin. Ice Rental THAT the matter of ice rental be left with Mr. Neads the Superintendent of Arenas. "CARRIED" Tennis Con. Allin presented estimates on one and two tennis courts Courts at to be built at Lord Elgin School. Lord Elgin l School Resolution ��CS-25/--76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Mayor Rickard. THAT an Application of Intent to apply for a Community Centres Grant be forwarded to the Ministry of Culture and Recreation for the construction of two tennis courts at Lord Elgin School at an estimated cost of $9,000.00. "CARRIED" Councillor Lyall opposed. Resolution #CS -259 6 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Mayor Rickard. THAT the foregoing Resolution be presented at tonights Special Council Meeting with the recommendation for approval of two courts at Lord Elgin School, subject to confirmation of Community Centres Grant and Wintario Grant. THAT the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Clerk Property be given power to investigate the possibility of obtaining the available C.P.R. property for use by the Newcastle Recreation Department. Cost of THAT the Recreation Staff look into the difference of the Lighting cost of lighting Memorial Park and Orono Park.
