E. Lyall, Member, until 2:30 p.m. Councillor D. W. Allin, Member Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member, until 2:35 p.m. Deputy Clerk, G. Gray, Secretary. Resolution #CS -177-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Adoption THAT the minutes of the meeting of June 7, 1976 be adopted. of Minutes "CARRIED" Fire Fire Chief J. Hayman presented his report Department Resolution #CS -178-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Connections THAT the following items of the Fire Chief's report be to Fire Alarm approved: Control Panel 1. That three local Companies, Delta Faucet, Hollingshead Limited and Bowmanville Mall be connected into the Municipal Fire alarm Control Panel at no cost to the Municipality and a fee of $25. per year to the subscriber. Nursing Home 3. That Nel Gor Nursing Home and Southaven Nursing Home in Direct Line the Village of Newcastle have a direct line to the Fire to Fire Department (Bell Canada signal line and relay to operate Department fire siren) at no cost to the Municipality. Lyall No U Turn THAT the matter of installing signs at Fire Station 2 Sigr, at to prevent vehicles making U Turns be referred to Staff for Station 2 a report on what can be legally done. Allin Lettering THAT Newcastle Fire Hall be lettered 'Fire Station 2' Fire Station and the Chief be requested to get competitive prices. 2 "CARRIED" Resolution TICS -181-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Allin Furnishings THAT the Fire Chief, with the assistance of the Station 2 for Fire Chief, wring in a price on the tonl cost of furnishings Station 2 required at the Station 2 Hall and check to see what is available from the present inventory. Allin Apartment THAT Mr. & Mrs. Miller be informed that as soon as the over Fire apartment has been decorated they may move in, the rent Station 2 will be payable to the Treasurer of the Town, one month in advance, from the date they move in, and a lease be drawn up. Allin Resignation THAT the letters of resignation from Voluntee:Firemen Volunteer John Forre,iter, Hall #3, Orono and Steven Oke, Hall #1 Firemen Bowmanville be accepted with regret and a letter be sent and to them thanking them for their past services and Terry W Replacement Hardy be hired to replace Mr. Forrester at Hall #3, subject to medical fitness examination (for a fireman) and subject to 6 months probation. Allin Retirement THAT the Chief's report of a Retirement Banquet at Hall #2 Banquet on October 16, 1976 for 2 volunteer firemen , Lawrence Volunteer Gaines and Harold Couch be received for information and Firemen the Chief and Mayor Rickard bring in a recommendation for Hall #2 suitable recognition from the Town. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -186-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Training THAT the Chief's report that the Town of Newcastle Fire Sessions departments are participating in training exercises, Oshawa Oshawa Training Bunker, 4 exercises one night a month, 1 pumper unit and 5 members per session, be received for information. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -187-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Request of THAT the request of the Jaycees to block off Temperance St. Jaycees to from King to Church for one week be tabled until the Committee Block off which has been appointed by Council to deal with this matter Tempeance St. brings back a recommendation. "CARRIED" Animal Control Officer, J. Hancock presented his report Resolution #CS -188-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Lyall Animal THAT the Animal Control report for the month of June Control be received for information and a copy be sent to Council. Report "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -189-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Dog THAT the Animal Control By-law be amended to the effect that Licence the 4th dog in a household require a licence fee of $50. and Fee each additional dog - $50. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 4 - July 5, 1976 Resolution #CS -190-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin THAT Item 4 (1) on the Agenda be dealt with. "CARRIED" Town of Mrs. Thrasher, Chairman of the Town of Newcastle Museum Newcastle Board was present to speak about a letter from the Acting Museum Board Secretary of the Board to the School Board regarding the re Kirby Kirby School. As the reply to this letter was in the Agenda School for July 5, Council Meeting, the matter was tabled. Resolution #CS -191-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall THAT the letter from theMinistry of Consumer and Commercial Abandoned Relations regarding Abandoned Cemeteries in the Town of Cemeteries Newcastle be forwarded to the respective Cemetery Boards and they report back to this Committee, within 1 month, what action they deem necessary. "CARRIED" Parks Mr. T. A. Fanning, Director of Parks and Recreation and and Mr. Roy Neads, Arena Manager were present to present the Recreation Recreation Report. Cowman Kinsman THAT a letter be sent from Council thanking the Kinsman Contribution Club for their community spirit and their contributions of to Waverly playground equipment for Waverly Park. Cowman Village THAT the report of the Village of Newcastle Hockey Committee Hockey regarding Fee for Registration of $25. and the ages and Registration requirements be approved. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee -5 - July 5, 1976 Resolution #CS -194-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Cowman Grass THAT the matter of cutting grass and erecting a fence on Cutting Town property on Highway 2 South of the Zoo be referred Highway #2 to the Jaycees and ask them to report back to the Community Property Services Committee. Cowman Water THAT the report of the Engineering department regarding Problem water problem - Soper Creek,. be tabled to the next Soper meeting for a report from the Chairman. Creek.
