Ann Cowman, Chairman Call Con. D. W. Allin, Member Con. K. E. Lyall, Member Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member Deputy Clerk G. Gray, Secretary. Resolution #CS -151-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Mayor Rickard Adoption THAT the minutes of meeting of May 3, 1976 be adopted. of Minutes "CARRIED" Brownsdale Because of a misunderstanding, the Brownsdale Association Delegation delegation was not present. Resolution #CS -152-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin THAT a letter be written to Mr. Irv. Miller and Mr. George Cameron explaining the situation and inviting them to the next meeting of the Committee. "CARRIED" Visual Mr. Bill Humber of the Visual Arts Association was present, Arts with others, to bring the Committee up to date on the progress Newcastle of the Newcastle Games which will be held in connection with Games the Olympics. The purpose is "Exploring the Environment through Art and Culture. He reported that they had received a Wintario Grant for $5,150. and suggested that they work with the Town through the Recreation Director. Mayor Rickard congratulated the group on their iniative and on obtaining the Wintario Grant and their desire to work with the Town. Parks The Recreation Director presented his report. and Recreation Resolution #CS -153-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Hockey THAT the Hockey Program in the Village of Newcastle continue Program to function as it has in the past. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 2 - May 17, 1976 Resolution TICS -154-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Lyall Visual THAT the contract for the visual inspection of the Arenas Inspection in the Town of Newcastle be awarded to Leighton & Kidd, Arenas at a price of $3,600. The other prices quoted were: Totten Sims Hubicki - $4,000. Proctor & Redfern - $7,200. and Parker Associates - $1,500. "CARRIED" Recreation Communication was received from the Ministry of Culture Centres and Recreation, enclosing the cheques, of the Grants under Grants the Community Recreation Centres Act in the amounts of $39,872.44 for the New Tyrone Community Hall and $8,838.75 for the Brownsdale Community Hall. Lyall Disposition THAT the Fire Chief and the Building Inspector be asked to old Fire appraise the old Newcastle Fire Hall and advise regarding Hall its disposition. Allin Fire THAT the memo from Fire Chief Hayman regarding the progress Halls to renovations at the New Fire Hall and a site for a fire hall in the Courti:e area, be received for information. "CARRIED" Reports The Secretary was askad to have written reports from the Fire Chief Fire Chief and the Animal Control Officer for each afterroon & Animal meeting of the Community Services Committee. Lyall make arrangements to engage Mr. Wes Fice Licencing as a dog licencing officer and check regarding liability etc. "CARRIED" Community Service Committee - 3 - Resolution #CS -158-76 May 17, 1976 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall Orono THAT it be recommended to Council that they support the Fair - request from the Orono Public School that elementary Children's students from Orono, Lockharts, Kendal, Kirby, Newtonville Day Newcastle and The Pines, who intend to participatain the September 17. Children's Day program at the Orono Fair on Friday, September 10, 1976, be allowed to do so. Resolution #CS -159-76 Moved by Con.
