Minutes of a meeting of the Community Services Committee
held in the Committee Room of the Bowmanville Town Hall
on Monday, March 15, 1976, at 7 p.m.

Mr. Roy Neads, Arena Manager

Recreation A discussion of the Recreation Budget took place.

Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Councillor Lyall
Capital THAT the $14,550. capital works, in tha Recreation Budget be
Works taken from current budget and deferred, to be dealt with as a
capital item.

Courtice THAT the $19,000. item for tennis courts at Courtice be taken

THAT the amount of $50,000, be added to the Revenue Budget
under 'contributions from reserves' (lot levies) to cover the
cost of brine pipes and evaporator at the Bowmanville Arena.

The Mr. Havoc Franklin spoke to the Committee about "The Great
Great Canadian Race" to be held from Toronto to Montreal in June.

Visual THAT the estimates concerning Visual Inspection of the Arenas
Inspection be tabled pending Mr. Fanning receiving more information from
Arenas Leighton & Kidd and Proctor & Redfern on the validity of their
Inspection.

Swimming THAT the Ieficiencies at the Memorial Park Swimming Pool be
Pools referred to the Bowmanville Service Clubs and those at the

C.O.M.R.A. THAT Councillor Cowman solicit support from the Community
Services Committee to attend a meeting of the City of Oshawa
Fire Protection and General Purpose Committee to discuss sharing
costs with the City of Oshawa for maintenance of the City of
Oshawa Marine Rescue Association.

The Newcastle Fire Department Annual Report for 1975, prepared
by Area Fire Chief J. Hayman, was presented.
