Ann Cowman, Chairman Call Con. D. W. Allin, Member Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member Con. K. E. Lyall, Member J. F. Descent, Treasurer until 8:45 p.m. T. A. Fanning, Director of Recreation Mr. Roy Neads, Arena Manager Deputy Clerk, G. Gray, Secretary Recreation A discussion of the Recreation Budget took place. Budget Resolution #CS -71-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Councillor Lyall Capital THAT the $14,550. capital works, in tha Recreation Budget be Works taken from current budget and deferred, to be dealt with as a capital item. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -72-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Councillor Lyall Courtice THAT the $19,000. item for tennis courts at Courtice be taken Tennis from Current Budget to be dealt with as another project. Courts "CARRIED" Resolution ICS -73-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Councillor Lyall THAT the amount of $50,000, be added to the Revenue Budget under 'contributions from reserves' (lot levies) to cover the cost of brine pipes and evaporator at the Bowmanville Arena. Recorded Vote: Lyall - yes Rickard - yes Allin - no Cowman - yes if CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 2 - March 15, 1976 The Mr. Havoc Franklin spoke to the Committee about "The Great Great Canadian Race" to be held from Toronto to Montreal in June. Canadian Race Resolution #CS -74-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall THAT this matter be referred to the Interclub Committee of Service Clubs. "CARRIED" Recreation The Director of Recreation presented his report Report Resolution #CS-7.'.�-76 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Lyall Visual THAT the estimates concerning Visual Inspection of the Arenas Inspection be tabled pending Mr. Fanning receiving more information from Arenas Leighton & Kidd and Proctor & Redfern on the validity of their Inspection. Lyall Swimming THAT the Ieficiencies at the Memorial Park Swimming Pool be Pools referred to the Bowmanville Service Clubs and those at the Deficiencies Newcastle Pool be referred to the Newcastle Lions Club. "CARRIED" Resolution ICS -77-76 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Con. Allin Lights THAT the item re lights at the Bowmanville Tennis Courts Tennis be tabled. Courts "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -78-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall Director THAT it be recommended to Council that Mr. T. A. Fanning Parks and be designated Director of Parks and Recreation. Recreation "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 3 - March 15, 1976 Resolution #CS -79-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall C.O.M.R.A. THAT Councillor Cowman solicit support from the Community Services Committee to attend a meeting of the City of Oshawa Fire Protection and General Purpose Committee to discuss sharing costs with the City of Oshawa for maintenance of the City of Oshawa Marine Rescue Association. "CARRIED" The Newcastle Fire Department Annual Report for 1975, prepared by Area Fire Chief J. Hayman, was presented. Resolution #CS -80-76 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Allin Adjournment THAT the meeting adjourn at 10:30 p.m. "CARRIED"
