Minutes of a meeting of the Community Services Committee held in the Committee Room of the Bowmanville Town Hall on Monday, September 15, 1975, at 7 p.m. Roll Present were: Councillor D. W. A11in, Chairman Call Councillor K. E. Lyall, Member Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member Councillor Ann Cowman, Member at 7:55 Deputy Clerk, G. Gray, Secretary. Adoption of Minutes Resolution #CS -237-75 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Mayor Rickard THAT the minutes of the meeting held on September 2, 1975, be adopted. "CARRIED" Tyrone Mr. Bernard Heming, Mr. John Virtue and Mr. Otto Jost Hall of the Tyrone Community Centre Board were present to Board discuss the financing of the Tyrone Hall. The discussion was held "In Camera". p.m. The members of the Hall Board were asked to attend the next meeting of the Finance Committee on September 22. Newcastle Mr. C. P. Blaker and Mr. Ed Majer of the Newcastle Lions Lions Club Club were present to discuss the Newcastle Lions Club Swimming Swimming Pool. Pool Resolution #CS -238-75 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Mayor Rickard THAT the Town absorb the cost of services for water and sewer installation within Town lands at the Newcastle Lions Swimming Pool. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -239-75 Moved by Mayor Rickard and seconded by Con. Lyall THAT the agreement between the Town of Newcastle and the Newcastle Lions Club re the Swimming Pool be extended to December 31, 1975. "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 2 - September 15, 1975. The Tyrone Hall Representatives again addressed the meeting and Area Fire Chief Hayman was present at this point. Resolution #CS -240-75 Moved by Con. Cowman, seconded by Mayor Rickard Volunteer THAT the Tyrone Hall group contact Chief Hayman to discuss Firemen the possibility of a Volunteer Fire Department in Tyrone Tyrone and report back to the Committee. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -241-75 Moved by Con. Cowman, seconded by Mayor Rickard Tyrone THAT the Chairman of the Community Services Committee Soccer look into the problem of the Tyrone Soccer field, with Field power to act. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -242-75 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall Station #1 THAT it be recommended that the number of Volunteers Volunteer in Station No. 1 be increased to 30 and a schedule of Firemen their time on call be drawn up and that consideration be given to those who are available day or night. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -243-75 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Cowman THAT before December 8, 1975, the Fire Chief bring in a report to the'Community Services Committee on the cost of 8 permanent firemen evaluated against the present cost of volunteers and outline the services which could be provided. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -244-75 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Mayor Rickard August THAT the August report of the Fire Department be adopted. Report Fire Chief "CARRIED" Community Services Committee - 3 - September 15, 1975. Resolution #CS -245-75 Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Lyall Receiving THAT it be recommended to Council that they approve Control of the extension of the Receiving Control system of System the Fire Department to include 20 additional zones Extension at a cost of $1,249.99 plus Provincial Sales tax, if this can be accomodated within the 1975 Budget. "CARRIED" Fire Chief Hayman reported that he had filled the vacancy in Answering the Fire Answering Service and that Mrs. Janet Harness Service of 19 Jane Street would commence work on September 22, 1975. Lyall, seconded by Mayor Rickard THAT the account of Allin & Son, for the Brownsdale Recreation Centre in the amount of $6,299. being $5,425, balance of contract +$874. additonal cost for reinforcing supports and enclosing stairwell be paid. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -247-75 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Mayor Rickard Meeting THAT the City of Oshawa Fire Protection and General Purpose Oshawa Committee be advised that Tuesday, October 7, 1975 at 10 a.m. re Courtice is a convenient time for the meeting regarding Fire Protection Fire Protection in Courtice. "CARRIED" Resolution #CS -248-75 Moved by Con. Lyall, seconded by Mayor Rickard Tabling THAT the balance of the Agenda be tabled until the next Motion meeting.
