Services Committee held in Court Room

Resolution #CS --210-75
Moved by Mayor Rickard, seconded by Con. Cowman
THAT the minutes of the meeting held on July 21,
1975, be adopted.

Mr. Brian Purdy, on behalf of the Bowmanville
Minor Hockey Association, made a presentation .to
Council asking that the price for ice time for their
Organization be cut to $20. per hour, and requesting
more hours.

THAT the presentation be received and examined
thoroughly to see what assistance might be given.

Recreation The Recreation Director presented his report
Director including schedules for the Bowmanville and
Darlington Arenas. Mr. B. Heming and Mr. John
Virtue were present representing the Tyrone
Community.

THAT the Director of Recreation explore the
possibility of obtaining additional ice time in
the Newcastle and Orono Arenas to accommodate
the B.M.H,A, and Recreation hockey.

THAT the July report of the Fire Department
be accepted.

Telephone THAT the Fire Chief's report regarding the
Answering telephone answering service be received for
Service information and the Fire Chief be authorized
to replace the third person as he sees fit.

THAT John Hubicki be invited to present a further
report on the new site location to the Council,
Area Fire Cbbief, Newcastle Fire Chief on Friday,
August 22, at 2 p.m. in the Village of Newcastle.

The Animal Control Officers were present at this
point when the meeting resumed in open session.
Councillor Lyall gave a report of the sale of
dog licences by students. More than 200 licences
have been sold to date.

THAT an amendment to Animal Control By-law
No. 74-29 be drawn up adding the following:
7.(a) a penalty of "not less than $10.00"
7.(b) allowing for payment out of court of a fine
of $10.00 for dogs running at large.
7.(c) allowing for payment out of court of a fine
of $10.00 for failing to obtain a licence.

Tenders THAT the Chairman arrange with the Clerk to draw
for up specifications and call tenders for the purchase
Truck of a new truck, with and without trade-in, for the
Animal Control department.

THAT the Public Works Department be ordered to dig
another hole, at the direction of the Animal Control
Officer, for the burial of animal carcasses.

THAT a second gun, a 22 - 250 mag rifle, be
purchased for the Animal Control Department at
a cost of $140.00.

THAT the letter from Mrs. Walker re garding
Dog Control be received for information.

As the estimate for fencing for cemeteries had
not been received, the matter was tabled until
the next meeting.
The Secretary was instructed to inform Miss Sugden
that the Cemetery mentioned in her letter, had
been identified by the Township of Darlington
and is under the care of the Town.

THAT the Bowmanville Museum Management Board
resolve the problem of the leaking roof.

THAT the Newcastle Community Hall Board be advised
that they will be responsible for the care of the
grounds at the Newcastle Community Hall.
