(b) Pleasure Skating:
Pleasure Skating is being conducted on Saturday
Afternoon 2 to 4 p. m.9 Saturday Evening from 8 to 10 p. m.
and Sunday Evening from 7 to 9 p. m. The attendance on
Saturday afternoon is around 170 -- 2009 with about 130 - 200
Saturday evenings and 150 to 200 on Sunday evening$;
The Tyrone Hall Association were granted two hours
of ice time in the Centre on Wednesday evenings from 6 to
8.00 p. m. They were going to have hockey, Figure Skating,
Broomball. They rent the Centre for $26.00 per hr. and they
have a fee for the participents. They are from all over
Newcastle. They average 225 to 250 people.
Suggest some discussion on this subject. We do
not allow this sort of thing in the Bowmanville Arena.
(c) Sizes of plastic Glass around the Centre ice surface has a
variety of dimensions as per attached sheet.
(d) Goal Frames & Best Mesh:
1 would recommend that the second set of goal
frames for the Darlington Sports Centre be the same as the
present ones. The cost is $465.00 for the frames and $225.00
for the mesh. Total cost $690.00 plus sales tax. The
second set at the Bowmanville Arena are the cheaper grade
and when we do use theta, we are always repairing them. In
the long run it would be cheaper to buy the good ones. They
could use a new set right now.
2. Programme:
(a) To conduct children and Teens activities in the Bowmanville
High School during the School Break.
(b) Seriously thinking of conducting activities during the school
break in the afternoons at the Orono Town Hall.

of Recreation appointed Joe Caruana to draw up a tenative
programme for use in the Community Hall and the Public School.
A tentativeprogramme has been setup which would
involve Ping Pong, records, cards, Bandminton, Volleyball,

were present at the meeting.
(d) Mens Softball ( Recreation Style ):
(e)

is getting a number of requests from people who want to
play softball for fun. Mr. Wayne Martin of Orono said there
maybe three teams formed in urono, two from the sub -division
and one from Orono.
There is a feeling that a Recreation League
could be formed with Service Clubs from Bowmanville, Orono,
Newcastle Village plus other teams from dampton, Courtice,
Newtonville, possiblity of some of the local factories in
the Area. Any organizations interested in this type of
league, please call the Newcastle Recreation Department.

The bull rush area of the Hill Pons on Orono Park

in with dirt.
At the present time the pond is being dugout and
when ready will be stocked with fish. The outfield of the ball
diamond will also be levelled with fill from the pond. The Park
property around the pond will have shrubs and trees planted when
this job is complete.
Some thought should be given to reserving some
of the nature trails in the park keeping in mind leaving the area
as strickly nature and brush.
Soper Creek Park: Bowmanville
During late of October of 1974, fence posts were
placed around half of the Playground area in Soper Creek Park.
Due to the inclimate weather, we, wore unable co finish the job.
It will be completed in April or May and the children should be
protected from cars when there is a ball game on.

We use the sports equipment at the Bowmanville
High School on Wednesday Evenings and Saturday mornings
from September to the end of April.
Ar. E. Wolf, School Principal at the Bowmanville
High School is not complaining, but he would like to know
if we could pay a rental of 1;75.00 to 3100.00 for use
of the equipment. There are 150 people involved in using
various types of equipment. I would recommend that we
donate •100.00 to the school for use of equipment.
