Minutes of an 'in camera' meeting
of the Audit Committee held on
Thursday, June 3 1982 at 9:30 a.m.

Roll Call Present were: Councillor Marie Hubbard, Chairperson
Councillor Diane Hamre, Member
Councillor R. Bruce Taylor, Member, at 10:15 a.m.
Councillor E. R. Woodyard, Member
Mayor G. B. Rickard, Member
Deputy Clerk Gertrude Gray
Also Present: Chief Administrative Officer, Don Smith
Treasurer, Kathryn Campbell
From Deloitte Haskins and Sells: Mr. Gordon Sedgewick
Mr. Bernard Chandler
Absent: Councillor Ann Cowman, Member
Councillor Maurice Prout, Member
The meeting had been called to discuss the Auditors'
Post Audit Letters.
Mr. Chandler commented on the following items in the
Town of Newcastle Post Audit Letter:
Town's Budget Preparation; Opening of Mail; Journal Entries;
Post Audit Committee; Cash Disbursements; Small Boards;
Audit Letter General Matters such as Account Balances, Audit Assistance
and Related Matters, Payroll Cheques, Payroll Preparation,
Supplementary Taxation, Inventories, Debenture Registers
Subdivision Agreements and Other Matters.
Library He also commented on the Post Audit Letter for the
Board Newcastle Public Library Board, which dealt with
Post -Audit such matters as Budgetary Control, Cash Receipts,
Letter Cash Disbursements, Accounts Payable and General
Matters including C.O.R.L. Grants and the Preparation
for the Annual Audit.
The Audit Committee was of the opinion that the Library
Board letter should be discussed by the Library Board
with the Treasurer and representative of the Auditing
Firm present.

Mr. Chandler was asked to present the Town's
1981 Financial Report to the General Purpose
and Administration Committee meeting on
June 14, 1982; "the presentation to be included
on the Agenda at 10:30 a.m.
Moved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Councillor Woodyard
THAT the meeting adjourn at 11:45 a.m.
