The following correspondence was read out by the Reeve: 1. Ontario Municipal Board letter dated April 17, 1967, re By-Law No. 1534 as business brought forward from April 18, 1967.-Referred to resolution. 2. Police Village of Orono Resolution No. 67-19, dated April 22, 1967.-Referred to resolution. 3. Clarke Planning Board re Planning Board Budget for 1967~-Referred to budget by-law. 4. Canadian National Exhibition re Centennial year afternoon teas in honour of the women who contribute so much to the welfare of their communities.-Referred to the Clerk. The following resolution was passed: Reso]utio~ No. Q2:Moved by Earl Nalkey,seconded by Orme Falls: This Council hereby approve and endorse Resolution No. 67-19 dat~d April 22, 1967, passed by the Trustees of the Police Village of Orono. ' A certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to the said Trustees.-Carried. The following By-law was given first, second and third reading and finally passed: By-LAW No. IShS The Corporation of the Township 'of Clarke. Being a by-law to adopt the estimates of all sums required during the year and to 'strike the rates of taxation for the year 1967. The taxes shall become due' andcpayable on the 1st day of September, 1967. 3. There shall be imposeda penalty for non-payment of taxes on due date or on instalments thereof, the amount of 1% of the amount due on the first day of default, and an. additional penalty of 1% shall be added on the first day of each calendar month thereafter on the balance remaining unpaid up to and including December 31st, 1967. . 4. The treasurer and Collector are hereby empowered to receive in any year payments on account of taxes for that year in advance of the date due and is hereby authorized to allow a discount on such pre-payments at.a rate of discount of 6% per annum. 5. The Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to be mailed the notice of taxes due to the address of the residence or place of business of the person to whom such notice is required to be given. 6. All current taxes shall be paid into the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce at Newcastle and Orono. All tax arrears shall be paid into the office of the Treasurer at Orono. 7. ~Vhere a tenantcof lands,.owned by the Crown or in which the Crown has an interest, has been employed either within or outside the m~nicipality by the same.employer for not less than 30 days, s~ch employer ~hall pay over to the collector on demand out of wages, salaries, or other remuneration due to such employee, the amount then payable for taxes under this by-law and any such p~yment shall ~elieve the employer from any liability to the employee for the amount paid. 8. T~e collector ~ndtreasurer are hereby empowered to accept part pq.yments from t{ime to time on account of any taxes due. 9.
