HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-06-09Minutes of the Committee of Adjustment Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington June 9, 2016 Municipality Administrative Centre, Council Chambers 40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville Present Todd Taylor Jim Vinson Andre O'Bumsawin John Bate Amanda Watson Absent without Notice Gord Wallace 1 Call to order Vice Chairperson Member Member Member Acting -Secretary Treasurer Vice Chairperson Paul Todd Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 2 Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest There were no pecuniary interests stated for this meeting. 3 Applications 3.1 A2016-0031 Tim Van Leeuwen 105 Erskine Drive, Newcastle Part Lot 30, Concession 2 Former Township of Clarke Member Applicant Tim Van Leeuwen made a verbal presentation to the Committee regarding the application. The explanation for the proposed variance was similar to what was outlined in the report prepared for this application. No one spoke in opposition to the application. There were no questions from the Committee members. There were no questions from the public. Moved by Andre O'Bumsawin, seconded by Jim Vinson "To approve the application to permit the construction of a deck with accessibility ramps in the rear yard of a single detached dwelling by increasing the maximum permitted lot coverage from 45% to 52% and by increasing the maximum permitted deck projection into the rear yard setback from 1.5 metres to 1.92 metres as the application meets the intent of both the Official Plan and the Zoning By-law, is minor in nature and is not detrimental to the neighbourhood." Carried 3.2 A2016-0032 Robert McClelland 79 Division Street, Bowmanville Part Lot 11, Concession 1 Former Township of Bowmanville Kimberley and Anthony Hall, the applicants, made a verbal presentation to the Committee regarding the application. The explanation for the proposed variance was similar to what was outlined in the report prepared for this application. No one spoke in opposition to the application. There were no questions from the Committee members. There were no questions from the public. Moved by John Bate, seconded by Andre O'Bumsawin "To approve the application to permit the construction of an addition to an existing single detached dwelling by increasing the maximum permitted lot coverage from 40% to 43% as the application meets the intent of both the Official Plan and the Zoning By-law, is minor in nature and is not detrimental to the neighbourhood." Carried 3.3 A2016-0033 Halminen Building Corp. 3359 Courtice Road, Courtice Part Lot 28, Concession 3 Former Township of Darlington Sylvia Dias, agent for the applicant, made a verbal presentation to the Committee regarding the application. The explanation for the proposed variance was similar to what was outlined in the report prepared for this application. No one spoke in opposition to the application. There were no questions from the Committee members. There were no questions from the public Moved by Jim Vinson, seconded by Andre O'Bumsawin "To approve the application to permit the construction of a single detached dwelling by reducing the minimum required side yard setbacks from 2 metres to 1.2 metres as the application meets the intent of both the Official Plan and the Zoning By-law, is minor in nature and is not detrimental to the neighbourhood." Carried 3.4 A2016-0034 Nicholas Lawson and Christina Nicholas 186 Ted Miller Crescent, Bowmanville Part Lot 17, Concession 2 Former Township of Darlington Applicant Nicholas Lawson made a verbal presentation to the Committee regarding the application. The explanation for the proposed variance was similar to what was outlined in the report prepared for this application. No one spoke in opposition to the application. There were no questions from the Committee members. There were no questions from the public Moved by Andre O'Bumsawin, seconded by John Bate "To approve the application to permit the construction of a deck by increasing the maximum permitted stair projection into the required rear yard setback from 1.5 metres to 1.92 metres as the application meets the intent of both the Official Plan and the Zoning By-law, is minor in nature and is not detrimental to the neighbourhood." Carried 4 Adoption of Minutes of Previous Meeting Moved by Andre O'Bumsawin, seconded by John Bate That the minutes of the regular meeting of the Committee of Adjustment, held on May 12, 2016, be approved. 5 Other Business 5.1 Appeal date for the foregoing applications is June 29, 2016 5.2 Next Meeting of the Committee of Adjustment is June 30, 2016 5.3 Chairperson and Vice Chairperson Todd Taylor inquired regarding the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson moving forward. Upon discussion amongst the committee members, the following was decided moving forward: x The Chairperson of the Committee of Adjustment will be Todd Taylor, and The Vice Chairperson of the Committee of Adjustment will be Andre O'Bumsawin. This was voted upon and all committee members present were in favor. These positions are effective immediately and will remain for the balance of the term. 6 Adjournment Moved by John Bate, seconded by Jim Vinson. That the meeting adjourn at 7:20 PM.
