BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
St. George's Church, located at 3 Edward Street, Newcastle, was
designated as being of historical and architectural value in
February 1989 . Restoration work has recently been completed on
the exterior of the building and an application for Designated
Property Grant in the amount of $3,000.00 has been submitted.
The Ontario Heritage Act, 1974, states that owners of property
designated under the Act can apply to the municipality for grants
of 50 percent of the total cost of the work, to a maximum of
$3, 000 .00 in any calendar year to offset the cost of restoration
work. A previous grant was received for work completed on the
church in September 1990 . Once the grant has been paid by the
municipality, application is made to the province for
reimbursement of the entire amount, plus 10 percent to cover
administrative costs .

The Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee has
inspected the work and it is found to be satisfactory.

submitted by Ms. Lynn Lovekin in the amount of $3,000 .00 be
approved.
