HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-10-09 Minutes SANTA CLAUS PARADE — MINUTES OF MEETING October 09, 2007 Start Time: 7:15 p.m. Finish Time: 8:55 p.m. Attendance: Valerie McCormick,Dawn Longmire, Kathy McLaughlin, Tracy Bayley-Buckle,Roger Letooze, Terryl Tzikas Previous Minutes were accepted by Roger, Seconded by Terryl. All in favour—passed VALERIE WCORMICK—Chairperson • Val has contacted Fred Horvath about truck and driver for Committee Float and to have Old Fire Hall opened at 8:30a.m. on Parade Day • Mike and Doug(commentators) are available • Graydon Brown to pull Santa Float • Ken Hockin as Parade announcer is available • New Santa is Rick Patterson—santa suit is very nice. • Program meeting will be held at Val's house • Wrap up meeting was difficult to hear last year we will have to ensure we book a restaurant with a separate room for us. Discuss at next meeting. • Terryl please remove Barina Home Check 1985 from our Contact List—Val received call from Barb Shetler • Terryl please update names for RBC contacts for Bowmanville—Cathie Martin, Courtice—Iris • Tammy has updated our Website • Haven't started sign yet—received call from Paul in Planning stating that we may have to write a letter to Council for approval and complete permit for Temporary sign. MARIE HAMMOND(Val spoke for Marie in her absence)--Treasurer • Six to seven donations in already TRACY BATLEY- BUCKLE—Makeup • Started making phone calls for volunteers • She has make up order for Dawn • Thank you article for paper. Put picture of committee with this article for paper DEBBIE FERNANDES (Val spoke for Debbie in her absence)—Floats and Fillers • Letters have been sent out for Floats that are normally in parade DAWN LONGMIRE—Buttons, Costumes • Ordered Red Hoodies for Flag Carriers • There will be no Super Heroes costumes did not look good • Banners are printed up and look great • Donation letters were sent out last week in September. Cost of mailing letters was $413.40(1,000 sent out) • Central Public Band called Dawn to say they will be in parade • Buttons—World with children holding Santa at bottom. Dawn to order 9,000 buttons ROGER LEETOOZE —Judging/Posters/Rogers Cable/Buttons and Button boxes • Quarry Lakes—two carts and gator • Bob Towing is booked • Aryen Links—two cams booked • Plaques are in at Hoopers and trophies ordered • Still looking for third judge • Mel Knocker 905-434-5300 from Oshawa Legion Pipe Band would like a call from Sheri • Faxed info to Rogers—no contact as of yet i E TERRYL TZII(AS —Secretary • Everything has been sent out • OVERT—will be coming out for staging areas • Charlie Trim will be the replacement for the Mayor in parade • Post for letter pick up are out • BIA has asked to do the cleaning, a letter to the Municipality requesting By-Law officers for the morning, the gym has been reserved througli the Kawartha Pine Ridge School Board • The Mayor will not be attending, his son is getting married on that weekend, will send a replacement KATHY MCLAUGHLIN--Publicity • Float and Filler advertisement was in paper on October 3, 2007 • Article for Adult volunteers will be in the paper for October 17, 2007 and Volunteers for children volunteers in paper for October 28,2007 • SHERI CRAGO- Bands • Absent from meeting, nothing to report as of yet LISA KOWAL—Volunteer Co-Ordinator • Absent from meeting, nothing to report as of yet NEW BUSINESS • Sher Letooze was at our meeting to discuss a book for the 501h Anniversary • She brought some samples of books that we may like to look at • She is looking to be paid$20.00 an hour • A discussion was held regarding what type of book. Would it be a book with just pictures, if so we need to go through pictures from the last 50 years. We could advertise in the paper that we are looking for pictures and then go through these. • If we did go this way,the set up would be part of her cost. • How long would this take, if it was just pictures it will not take long to produce a 1,000 copies. • Would we do a pre-order of books, we may have to set up a Sub Committee for this • Sher estimated it would take her 20 hours to do a 100 page book i i i * 1T will take approximately 6 weeks to print and this would be completed by Summer 2011 e Val thanked Slier for attending and this will be discussed and decided at our next meeting when more committee members are present. lflodon to end ineeting by Terryl, Seconded by Tracy„All in favour— passed Next meetin .
