SUBJECT
STATUS OF HANCOCK ROAD - BASELINE ROAD TO BLOOR
STREET AND RUNDLE ROAD NORTH OF THE JUDO CLUB
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. That Report WD -89 -86 be received; and,
2. That Hancock Road between Baseline Road and Bloor Street be maintained
as a summer maintenance road in accordance with Town Policy and that
this section of Hancock Road be added to the road inventory and
recognized as a summer maintenance road in the 1987 Road Needs Update;
and,
3. That the parties requesting maintenance on Rundle Road north of the
Judo Club be informed that this section of Rundle Road is classified
as an unmaintained road and as such receives no maintenance under Town
Policy, and, that the Town Policy with respect to maintenance of
agricultural roads is currently under review, and, that the Town would
consider granting a road occupancy permit to allow the interested
parties to carry out minor maintenance on the road allowance to
facilitate access to agricultural properties.

Report No. WD -90 -86
;__111
Requests have been received this fall to have summer maintenance activities
carried out on Hancock Road north of Baseline Road and on Rundle Road north
of the Judo Club.
Upon investigation of the status of the section of Hancock Road in question
it was discovered that it was not listed in the Road Needs Inventory as a
summer maintenance road. It was subsequently determined that this section
of Hancock Road has been receiving minor maintenance for as long as many
could remember.
It would appear that this section of Hancock Road was inadvertently left off
the Road Needs Inventory.
Recommendation # 2 of this report is requesting authorization to continue
maintaining Hancock Road between Baseline Road and Bloor Street as a summer
maintenance road and to have it added to the Road Needs Inventory in the
1987 update.
With respect to the status of Rundle Road north of the Judo Club, no
evidence of the Municipality ever having performed road maintenance could be
found and indeed it is considered as an unmaintained road. This section of
Rundle Road is not listed in the Road Needs Inventory.
Recommendation No. 3 recommends notification of the interested parties that
the Town would consider granting a road occupancy permit to allow them to
carry out minor maintenance on the road allowance to facilitate access to
agricultural properties.

still to come in a subsequent report is a review of the current unimproved

roads.
