BY -LAW 82 -56
being a by -law to amend By -law No. 74 -55 entitled
"A By -law to Designate Pedestrian Crossovers"
WHEREAS Section 1, Subsection 27 of The Highway Traffic Act R.S.O. 1980,
Chapter 198, provides that:
"Pedestrian Crossover" means any portion of a roadway
designated by by -law of a municipality, at an intersection
or elsewhere, distinctly indicated for pedestrian crossing
by signs on the highway and lines or other markings on the
surface of the roadway as prescribed by the regulations:"
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle has deemed it
expedient to amend By -law No. 74 -55 to provide for the designation of additional
portions of roadways as Pedestrian Crossovers;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle hereby
enacts as follows:
1. That Section 1 of By -law 74 -55 is hereby amended by adding thereto the
following:
Column 1 Column 2 "
King Street East East Side of Division Street
(former Town of Bowmanville)
• 2. That By -law 82 -15 of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle is hereby repealed.
3. This By -law shall not become effective until approved by the Ministry of
Transportation and Communications, pursuant to Section 169 of The Highway
Traffic Act, R.S.O., 1980, Chapter 198.

By -law read a first and second time this 26th day of April, 1982
By -law read a third time and finally passed this 26th day of April 1982
