being a by -law for the purpose
of numbering the lots and buildings
thereon and for affixing numbers to
the buildings.
THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NEWCASTLE pursuant to
R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, Section 363, (9) and (10) Enacts
As Follows:
(1) All lands situate in the Village of Newcastle, north ofthe
Canadian National Railway, be distinguished by numbers in the
following manner:
The even numbers to be placed on the west and north sides
of the streets and the odd numbers on the east and south sides of
the streets.
All streets running east and west to be numbered east and
west from Mill street.
All streets running ;north and south to be numbered north.and
south from King street.
The said numbers to alternate consecutively on each side of
the street as closely as possible.
(2) The Clerk to be required to set up a record of such
frontages and the number of each and to have the said record
available for public inspection.
(3) The said numbers to be recorded by the Clerk and securely
placed upon the front of a building on such lot as is now or in
the future may be construced on the lot.
(4) All such buildings to display their numbers by
1973.
(5) Anyone defacing, damaging or removing the said numbers
from any building is guilty of an indictable offence and liable
to a fine of Dollars, the same to be collected
under the provisions of The Summary Convictions Act.
(6) The provisions of this by -law shall come into force upon
the finaL.. passing thereof.
