BY-LAW NO. 67-2
Being a by-law to authorize the construction
of a police and fire station on Church Street.
WHEREAS the existing facilities for the administration
of justice and accommodation for the Town volunteer fire brigade
are wholly inadequate;
AND WHEREAS these inadequacies are due to age, poor
accommodation, crowded conditions, disruption to Town business
on Court days, lack of parking space, age and limitations of the
existing fire hall which will not provide accommodation for the
newer type of equipment designed to fight fires in the larger
modern type of building, nor will it provide accommodation for
additional equipment required to meet the needs of a growing
community;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town
of Bowmanville deems it expedient and necesary in the interests
of the town of Bovimanville to construct on Church Street a police
and fire station;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the
Town of Bowmanville, pursuant to the authority contained in
Sections 353 and 379, subsection 1, paragraph 24, of the Municipal
Act R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 249, hereby ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Town of Bowmanville to construct a police and
fire building on Church Street at a total estimated cost of
$430,000.
2. That the Mayor and Clerk be and are hereby authorized
to do all acts and sign all documents and affix the corporate seal
of the Town hereto as may be necessary in connection with making
contracts and other matters for the completion of the said
undertaking.
3. This by-law shall not take affect until it receives
the approval of the Ontario Municipal Board pursuant to Sections
63 and 64 of the Ontario Municipal Board Act. R.S.O. 1960,
Chapter 274 and amendments thereto.
