BY -LAW NO. 1996
Being a by -law to stop up O'Dell Street.
WHEREAS the Board of Transport Commissioners for Canada
has by its Order dated Thursday the 21st day of _July, 1966 approved
the reconstruction of the overhead bridge carrying Elgin Street
across and over the Canadian Pacific Railway right -of -way;
AND WHEREAS the intersection of O'Dell Street at the north-
ern and southern approach to the bridge is a safety hazard to
vehicles and pedestrians;
AND WHEREAS it is therefore deemed expedient to enact a
by -law to close O'Dell Street at the bridge;
AND WHEREAS notice of intention to pass this by -law was
published once a week for four successive weeks in The Canadian
Statesman, a weekly newspaper published in the Town of Bowmanville
in its issues dated the 23rd and 30th days of November, 1966 and
the 7th and 14th days of December, 1966.
AND WHEREAS no person will be deprived of the means of
ingress and egress to and from his land or place of residence by
the passing of this by -law;
AND WHEREAS Council has made provision for and has heard
in person every person who claims that his road allowance will be
prejudicially affected by the by -law and who has applied to be
heard;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town
of Bowmanville, pursuant to Section 459 (1) of The Municipal Act,
R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 249, hereby ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That O'Dell Street be closed and stopped up at places where
the said road is intersected by Elgin Street on the northern and
southern approaches to the bridge carrying traffic over and above
the Canadain Pacific Railway right -of -way.
