SANTA CLAUS PARADE - MINUTES OF MEETING
November 29, 2006
Wrap Up Meeting
Start Time: 6:25 p.m.
Finish Time: 7:34 p.m.
Attendance: Valerie McCormick, Dawn Longmire, Kathy McLaughlin, Sheri Crago,
Tracy Bayley-Buckle, Roger Letooze, Debbie Fernandes, Marie Hammond, Terryl
Tzikas
.:. Previous Minutes were accepted by Marie Seconded by Sheri. All in
favour - passed.
VALERIE McCormick - Chairperson
. Clarington Secondary School had a complaint in Newspaper regarding Shirts
asked to be turned inside/out.
. Rogers TV - a few thing written out on TV wrong.
. Parade building has leaks - Municipality to repair. They have been down and
cannot locate leaks (there are three of them).
. Valerie wrote letter to Charlie Trim with regards to incident with Staff Sergeant
Sayer and the Police Food and Toy Drive.
. Val personally thanked Parade Committee for all of their help.
MARIE HAMMOND - Treasurer
. Marie stated that we collected $10,006.44 for Buttons.
. $6,415.00 received in Donations.
. $1,000.00 cheque from Memorial Park.
. Thank you's should be listed on program.
. Marie mentioned that she has heard all good comments about this year's parade.
TRACY BAYLEY-BUCKLE -Makeup
. Make up went well-lots of help.
. Apple juice did not go well, will be asking for Sip bags instead of juice for next
year.
. Dalmatians - thrilled with them.
. Found parade very quiet - not enough bands (comments from people).
DEBBIE FERNANDES - Floats and Fillers
. Heard all good comments about parade.
DAWN LONGMIRE - Buttons, Costumes
. Button invoice given to Marie.
. Has a friend that would like to join committee as a Volunteer Coordinator.
. Costumes were fabulous.
. There seems to be the same ongoing problem at end of parade people stopping
and getting off of floats. Red Hat Society a problem, parked in parking lot and
driving erratically.
. There is a need for more Police Officers at end of parade.
. Harleys seemed aggressive, created big space (mask was not appropriate).
. Call at beginning of parade next year (Red Hat Society and Harley)
. Heard complaints that parade was too quiet.
ROGER LEETOOZE - Judging/Posters/Rogers Cable/Buttons and Button boxes
. Roger stated that Rogers TV would like to come to our Parade meeting
before parade.
. Staking - 7:30 a.m. start next year.
. Thank you to Bobs Towing and Animal Control.
. More control needed on Scugog Street - control this comer better (maybe piloned
off).
. Maybe an article in paper before parade day.
. Posters in Stores - did not see many up.
. Maybe advertise parade on wooden signs as you enter Town.
. Banner on street - maybe put up next year.
. Toques - how many need to be replaced. Roger suggested Auctioning off hats for
more money.
TERRYL TZIKAS - Secretary
. Main concern was what transpired in the morning regarding Logos.
. Spacing was an issue.
. Floats/Fillers need to do more waving.
KATHY MCLAUGHLIN - Publicity
. Thank you has been place in paper.
. CD with pictures from parade day has been given to Val.
SHERI CRAGO - Bands
. Has heard lots of feedback that parade was enjoyable.
. Traffic blocked off too soon.
. Sheri would like Valerie to keep her informed as to the results of the letter she has
written to Charlie Trim with regards to the Durham Regional Police.
Motion to end meeting by Sheri, seconded by Kathy. All in favour - Motion Accepted

Val to send out schedule for next year's Parade Meetings.
