Minutes of a regular meeting of Council
held on Monday, September 21 1981 at
9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers

Moved by Councillor Prout, seconded by Councillor Taylor
THAT the minutes of the regular meeting of Council held on
September 8 1981 be adopted as corrected. Resolution #C-981-81
should read "Moved by Councillor Hamre".

Mr. C. R. Lumley, Senior Project Manager of the Ministry of
Transportation and Communications did not appear. The
presentation of the upgrading of Highway 115 from Enterprize Hill
to the Newcastle Boundary had been made at the Public Works
meeting.
Mrs. Barbara Schon, Librarian and Mr. Gary Milovik, Chairman
of the Newcastle Library Board made a presentation to
Council relative to improvements to the Bowmanville Library
and a grant from the Ministry of Culture and Recreation to
provide the library with handicapped access. He stated
that the Town would be required to make a firm commitment
of $32,000.00. The project should be underway by March 31
1982 and be completed by September, 1982.

caused by increasing the use of automobile travel on
Ontario Highways to move people to and from their place
of employment;
and urge the Minister to take all possible action to retain
and improve intercity passenger rail service between Havelock,
Peterborough and Toronto through the Town of Newcastle;
and that copies be sent to the Federal Minister, J. Luc
Pepin, Mr. Allan Lawrence, M. P. and Mr Sam Cureatz, M.P.P.
