BY-LAW 96-151
being a by-law to authorize the Clerk to make application
to the Ontario Municipal Board for a new division of wards
within the Municipality of Clarington
WHEREAS at a meeting held on July 8, 1996, the Council of the Municipality of
Clarington passed Resolution #C-604-96 providing, in part, that a Restructuring
Committee be formed to review ward boundaries and representation;
AND WHEREAS public meetings were held on August 9 and 12, 1996 for the purpose
of receiving input from the constituents on the matter of ward redivision;
AND WHEREAS the Restructuring Committee presented its final report to the Council
of the Municipality of Clarington on August 12, 1996:
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY
OF CLARINGTON ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Clerk, on behalf of the Municipality of Clarington, is hereby
authorized to make application to the Ontario Municipal Board for a new
division of the Municipality of Clarington's ward boundaries pursuant to Section
13(2) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M.45. as set out in the Final Report
of the Municipality's Restructuring Committee approved by Council at its
Special Meeting held on August 12, 1996, and in particular in Attachment
No. 2 thereto.
2. THAT the effective date of the Municipality of Clarington's Ward Boundaries, is
hereby declared to be December 1, 1996.
By-law read a first and second time this 12th day of August 1996.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 12th day of August 1996.
