THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
By-Law No. 78-67
A by-law to provide for the payment of an annual
allowance to the Mayor and Members of Council
PURSUANT to the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284,
Section 211, Section 389 and Section 392, the Council of the
Corporation of the Town of Newcastle HEREBY ENACTS as follows:
1. That the Mayor be paid an annual allowance of
Twelve Thousand, Six Hundred Dollars, ($12,600).
2. That the remaining members of Council be paid an
annual allowance of Five Thousand, Seven Hundred
Dollars, ($5,700).
3. Such allowance shall be paid semi-monthly and in the
event of the death of a member or upon his ceasing
to be a member for any reason before the expiration
of his term of office, the amount shall be in
proportion to the period of his service during such term.
4. One-third of such annual allowance shall be deemed to
be for expenses incident to the discharge of his
duties as a Member of Council.
5. The provision of this by-law to be retroactive to
January 1st, 1978.
6. That By-Law No. 74-24 be and is hereby repealed.
